ok so i need to figure what would be good to use to cut the body.
basically ive got a pick n pull scrap yard that i need to cut a front end.... from a j to weld on to my j. what would be the best blades and cutter. bttw i cant take in a plasma cutter ... that would make things easier but it would be a no no.
sawzall battery powered.....i believ thats all pick and pull allows..around here at least..phil
battery powered sawzall with a few spare batteries
if not that you could go rent a gas powered Cut off wheel. the yard should have one of those anyways. at least the yards around here do.

some yards wont let you have a gas powered saw due to the fire hazard and insurance reasons. i suggest a Milwaukee sawzall. thats what we use at work for chopping cars.
the best/easiest way to do it:
get the longest steel cutting blades you can find. you will need 2 maybe 3 if you bend the first one.
first find out what the yard includes with the nose. most yards will charge extra if you take the bags, suspension or drive train.
next remove both front doors. rip the center console, shifter assy out and slide the seats all the way back.
now you need to get under the car and cut off the exhaust, fuel lines, parking brake cable and anything that could be a problem.
next. if the car is sitting on the ground get the yard guys to lift it with the loader, some times they will get a big skid and put it under the car for you. if not just put 2 tires under the front of the nose to protect it and to make it MUCH easier to lift later.
now the fun part. get in the car start cutting the floor at one side anywhere in between the seats and the dash. cut all the way across. you can cut through the carpet and all the small stuff. when you are near the rocker on the end of the cut get out of the car. because the nose will drop an inch or two when you finish this cut.
next cut through one A pillar, the nose will drop again on that side. now rip through the windshield and over to the other A pillar. when you cut that one the nose will drop on to the skid/ground. thats it your done.
now i suggest being careful when you start the cuts. especially at the rockers, the saw wants to jump when you hit the pinch welds. also make sure you wear gloves and safety glasses, a face shield is better if you have one.
one more thing, when you cut the last pillar the rest of the car will fall backwards. make sure there is no one behind it.
good luck and have fun man.
