I did the swap today went ok, couple snags here and there, and well my main question is the sticky for the swap, the color codes for the wires on the driver side is diff for me and wont work, i am so confused
on pontiac side i got blue blue pink
on cav headlight blue orange blue pink.
please help
and as always looking for a cheap hood.
thanks
IIRC both blues on the cav go to middle blue
then outer blue to orange
pink to pink
im pretty sure
if my wiring diagram wasnt out in the freezing cold car i would go check...lol
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
Ok, being that ur sunfire is a 99.. maybe it has the driverside connector as the color of the 00.. i dunno.. but that seems like thats what happened..
and the cavalier wiring is fine.. that matches what i put in the sticky..
But try wiring it the way as a 00-02 Sunfire would.. Also check ur fuses could be u just blew a fuse as well..
But it wouldnt be to hard for you to get a test light and find out which wires are what.. u just might actually have to do some work instead of it all being given to u..
The colors are the same as a 00 and when i hook it up all like i've read, my lows and highs are mixxed up. And i don't appreciate your crack about working on it. thats all i been doing the past 2 days is working on it. also the bumper baffle when i went to put my new bumper on was way to big for my bumper, i dont know what thats about tho.
yeh the sunfire crushguard is huge..they have to go up towards the top to help support it. i dont think i covered teh crushguards in my sticky
u could either remove it completely or just go to junkyard and snag one.. i think they wanted like $15 here for one..
and my "crack" about working about it wasnt trying to be rude.. i was just saying if we couldnt get it figured out with the wiring u can go buy a test light and try it out instead of going by the info i gave out. I dont doubt uve worked on it.. ive done these kind of swaps a couple times.. i know what it takes.. Not every car is the same..
you said the highs and lows were backwards? if u switched teh wires did it work fine then?
when i originaling did it the lows and highs were backwards, then i swapped the wires and the other head light went to both bulbs like and the d side was really dim, then i went back figureing i would live with it, and the drive side jjust stays dim now, and my interior light alarms on. The high beams are the bulbs on the inside correct? i just cant seem to get them to line up. i went and bought a test light and im going to try to figure it out. I still have my passenger panels a little farther back and cant open my door and im having a hard time getting that out. and from my wreck the metal subframe that the lense mounts to is bent, no idea how to fix that. Sorry about blowing up about the work on it thing, i've just busted ass the past couple days and it kinda bugged me someone thought i was floating through it. i spent the better part of 4 hours in mud and cold yesterday getting the new end out of a junk yard. (blows)
thanks again for you help, i know im a novice but im trying to get this thing looking good.
Dave
and uve check ur headlight fuses correct? and there are no tears in wiring? did u connect all 4 wires?? 2 grounds, 1 high, 1 low? i dont understand how both ur high and lows came on at same time.. ur driverside is prolly dim now because ur high and low on the pass side is on.. I'd say check all ur connections fuses and wiring.. i really dont have any other suggestions other then disable ur DRLs and see if that helps..
