New guy, with a wide body question.
Thursday, December 14, 2006 4:31 PM
I recently got a wide body cav, and I'm needing some info on what to do for the gas door. I was going to use one of those billet gas doors, but after looking at it, it seems out of place. What did you guys with wide body's do for your gas door? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of people just relocate it to either behind the tail light or inside the trunk. There is a write up floating around here somewhere with how to do it.

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome guys. The reason i was going to use a cap is the guy i got it from, cut out a small square in the wide body fender to access the gas door.

glass back over it then. the kit has to be molded on, when your molding it on, just glass over the hole

The kit is already on, molded and everything (should of mentioned that) so what are my options here. I don't want to mess it up. Heres a pic of the car.....

you could always try glassing over that hole that he cut in it to hide it... or if you wanted a gas cap like the sparco one, just cut the hole out to the right size or fill it in until it fits. Or you can just leave the hole there Goodluck buddy

if you don't go that route, just put the sparco door on it- have it powdercoated black....it'd be different and look pretty clean if u gonna paint the car black

Thats an ugly widebody. Amature work for sure. Does it even make the car wider? Also, switch back to stock, unpainted tails. A nice widebody design would flow well with the body and have crisp body lines that gradually fade into the car. Not some panel just slapped on with some glass, and bondoed arround the edges. Arround the tail lights looks very bad too. Doesnt flow at all. I dont understand how someone could have been looking at that car and actually wanted to buy it. Especially with that gas hole showing the expertice of the creator!

Its a lot wider than it looks in the picture, and compared to my buddy's cav. The tails are leaving, along with the trunk. The guy fiberglassed over top of them instead of taking them out and doing it right., thats why there painted at the moment. (had to break the fiber glass off of the tails)i haven't had the chance to get another set. its only temporary. As far as the hole in it for the gas, i didn't know it was like that till it got here, it will all be fixed right.

He glassed over the inner tails. WOW.....It wont be 2 months before that whole car starts to crack apart. If he did the tails like that, he has no clue how to do any body work. Sorry man! He prolly didnt even take it down to metal to glass the panels on, if he even used glass and not just bondo. Im assuming he probably didnt use the proper method to shave the bumpers. Did he even have a picture to show you before you bought this? Also, how much did you pay, if you dont mind saying. I would love to know!
