i kno i know i have read the sticky that says how much this or that bodywork will cost but i wanted to know has anyone of u here painted your whole a different color and how much does it cost you

thats too much now im having doubts about modding my car
for any decent paint job, especially a complete color change, ya 3k is close. although it will differ from area to area.
if you were staying with the same color, you could get away cheaper cuz they wouldnt have to paint the door jams, trunk jams, engine bay, etc.
but with a total color change any decent paint job includes the door jams and all that which is a PITA to tape off and manuver around.
you could always go to maaco for the $500 single stage paint job, but expect to have it repainted every few months.
depends on your region really. around here you top out at 1500 for a good paint job with most being around a grand. full paint job too with ppg or other quality paints and good work. custom paint jobs would obviously be more.

yea seriously. i paid 1500 to just have my car repainted black. A full color change from a good shop is gonna be around 2k-3k depending on the shop
Just got mine done last year. went from black to Impulse blue metallic. all the jams were done but i decided to leave the engine bay black, since the car was black before i figured the engine bay still black wouldnt look bad, and it doesnt bother me. The car needed very little body work and was done with ppg. I went to a painter in the area that is known for his work on custom rods and older cars who has been painting before i was born, the car turned out really nice but it also costed me 3800. In my eyes small price to pay to have it turn out how i wanted it too.
holy crap, where the hell are u guys going for a paint job?! i was quoted $7,000 not more than an hour ago for the entire car. STOCK COLOR! AND that didnt include the hood!!! (mine is CF)
although i told the shop i wanted it PERFECT, no orange peel, no fish eyes, no overspray, PERFECT.
and they said, fine... you want perfect, you have to pay for it.
^^^well thats just outragous! for a show stopper paint job with lines, multiple colors, etc, i can see that, but for covering the stock color where they dont have to do the jams and all that, thats crack prices.
any painter worth a damn should stride to make all their jobs with no fisheye/orange peel/overspray regardless.
try a few other shops to see what they say. id never pay 7k for a basic paint job. prolly more than the car is worth all together.

well i know up here in canada for a respray ect with me fitting my bodykit and stripping the car im about 3500 and up im doing a color change but im doing the engine bay and jambs..but it is one of the best shops in the area..that deals with show cars..phil
Yeah 7 g's is crap for staying with a STOCK paint color.. Go somewhere else lol.

there is no one answer this post shows that. i can see 7grand for a repaint in some instances (wants it perfect) wich would involve redoing all the door jambs even if its the same color. in that case the time involved will tell you your cost. im looking at 5k for paintwork on the exterior before i add my graphics to it. but were talking show quality. show quality to one guy may mean something diffrent then show quality to another. show quality to me involves color sanding and wetsanding, and im not just talking about going over it with 1500 grit. my painter sprays the clear on in severl coats and starts wetsanding at 600 grit, then goes 800 then 1000 then 1500 then 2000 then a buff. do you know how much time is involved to do that on an entire car, door jambs an all? where as another guys show qualtiy paint job may mean that it doesnt have runs in it. or that the orange peel isnt as bad as factory paint. so it really does vary. i mean in here weve heard anywhere from 600 to 7000. and ive talked to some people that have paid way more then 7k for a single color repaint.
best thing to do is just go to a couple shops that do reputable work and see wich one you feel will give you the best paintjob for the least amount of money. i mean 3000 for a complete color change to the car from a quality shop would be a bargain around here. most quality shops wont do a color change for less then 5000.

Yeah 7 grand is way to high for what you were goin to get done, like i said mine was 3800 for color change of everything but the engine bay. also had my carbon hood painted to match the color of the car. I mounted the body kit which i am sure saved some time. the painter used ppg paint color sanded and wet sanded the whole car including jams. The one thing i would look for or at is other work the guy had done and see how it is, dont just look at his stuff, for some reason i have seen painters do real good work on there own stuff then through together other peoples cars and just ship it out lookin like ass. My car was gone a month but i would imagine that could become less or more with what time of year it goes in and how busy the guy doin it is.

cost of living, salaries, etc are also alot lower, so it all evens out in the end. i mean my house payment is $275/mo...for the same house in many other areas it would be an easy 2-3x that much

yeah but youve got to figure....any single guy my age with my responsibilities (i.e. no kids or other big expenditures) can live very comfortably off of 1500-2000/mo. you cant touch that in other areas because the cost of living is so much higher. so even though a paint job costs 1500, that could easily be a month's pay. my buddy jason just bought a house--2 car garage, walk-out basement, in-ground swimming pool, 3 bed 2 bath--and hes only paying 5 and some change a month for it. prices on anything that doesnt come from a shelf in a store varies so much by region that its crazy.
orlando: really the best idea is to just go to a shop and get a quote. actually, go to 4 or 5 shops and get quotes. and check out some of the cars there so you can see the quality. locally i was quoted 900 from one shop to two-tone my car (stock red on bottom and white on top) and 1200 to do it at another shop. of course they didnt have to redo the engine bay, but thats still a good price. hell it was only 450 to paint/install my first body kit back in the day and that would have been about 150 less had i installed it myself. i even got my first RK SS hood painted for $75, stock red color. so look around your area and youll find some good places with good prices

man, u guys are seriously getting good deals, when i had my 89 beretta worked on (they installed a set of tesstarossa side skirts and painted them)
it was $500 for the paint and install... and it looked like ass.

Are you sttill insistant on having all your windows removed and such? That's going to add to cost too... so if you went into the shop demanding to have your windows and everything removed (minus the engine bay) and wanted everything absolutely perfect... yeah I can see 7k
The shop was right, if you want perfect, you're going to pay for perfect... period.

ok ho my god i thought that painting my whole car to rally yellow was gonna be less expensive than that, anywayz what im planning to do is to get me a drift kit for my cavy and get it installed and painted orange so it matches my car stock color... sexy orangeee lol
i have a question whats better? to install first the kit and then paint it or first paint the kit and then install it, what would a bodysho do first? cause im having the shop to both
i dont have enough money to buy the kit get it installed and paint the whole car rally yellow but there a lot cavy oranges with kits iv seen in cardomain and they look preti tight so ill give it a try hopefully in the future i can paint my whole car to rally yellow
