hi im new to this forum and i have a 2004 chevy cavalier base sedan and i dont know if i have this socket to insert a light bulb there, i got the car witout plate lights and nver really check if i had the socket
i also wanna know if i have a socket in the jocky box cause no light there
thanks in advance
i assume u mean for your rear plate
look right above the plate(kinda hidden unless laying on the ground) and remove the 2 small bolts holing the light in. prolly just need a new bulb in there. once the 2 bolts are out, it just unclips from the bumper. you slide it towards the car to get it off
hope that helps
^^ you dont have to undo the 2 bolts.. just grab the back of the socket, twist and pull it out.. then put ur new bulb in and shove it back in. those 2 small bolts are annoying to mess with lol
and for having a light in the glove box.. i know mine does.
^^^thats odd. mine requires me to take the bolts out.........odd
Yup in my 98 fire sedan you just twist the bulb out by hand above the plate, no bolts to undo; small little 194 bulbe; i have a green one in there for the past few years and it looks kick ass at night.

maybe the reason why is that is beacuse you have a 98 98 98 98 fire sedan thats why is different from us cavy cavy 2k+ cars
Manta z has a 98 sunfire sedan????????????? did not know that; he also said you just twist and pull and i am pretty sure he dont have a 98 sedan; i do; and thats all you have to do; just undo the two bolts then.

i have a 96 Z.. and ive done work on 2 2k cars in the back bumper area and they were both the same as mine..
There ya go; orlando seems to think its only on 98 sunfire sedans; its on cavy copes as well where ya just twist and pull.

03 Sunfire's are a little different than the 98's twist and pull, I think you have the take the lenses out (two screws per) or the whole panel, either way its a PITA IMO.
hey i found the socket liek the guy said no need to remove the 2 bolts it was easy to remove and put back again now i just have to get a bulb
I have an 05 Cavy and the light is a simple twist the socket and pull out. You can fix or replace plate lights in less then 2 minutes.
I think you can put a little led bulb in there as well wich would make it nice and bright.
I have a green bulb in there, looks sharp.

r u guys referring to the actual bulb, or the light housing?
im talking about the housing.
All he wants to do is replace the bulb, so the socket, not the housing.
As for the glovebox light, only 95-99 has those for some odd reason. However the latches are the same, so if you found a 95-99, you could grab the latch/light and just hardwire it to any constant power source and ground.
