Well what ya can do is hook up a flux compositor to them that will up the current to make them whiter. There is also the method that is cheaper but lamer of buying new bulbs. Then you can also do custom headlights with retro fitted projectors form high end cars Izn Trbl-[ahys-in] [truhb-uhl] above me posted and does an amazing job. Or there is hid kits that are like200+ that are easier and cheaper then custom. But I would stick with the first one thats is just uber sweer.

Those lights you posted will not fit your 04 cavalier unless you convert your front end to the older style. Unfortunately (or is it fortunately? ) there are no aftermarket projector headlights for the 03-05 cavalier. If all you want are white headlights, you can buy new 9007 halogen bulbs at pretty much any store that sells automotive accessories (autozone, advanced auto, discount auto, murrays auto, meijer, walmart, etc.) they will run you from between just a few dollars upwards of $40 depending on what brand and color temp. you go with. Silvania Silverstars are bright headlights which I think are white, but they are kind of pricey.

Be careful with what you buy though, the closer to BLUE/PURPLE in color, the dimmer the bulb. I had a set of Nokya "Arctic White" headlights in the 7000K range that were just awful after dark. They looked cool, but the light output was horrid.

How can you tell what color a bulb will be? By the Kelvin color temperature.

Bascially If a bulb is rated < 4000K it will be a yellow color and bright. If a bulb is rated > 10000K it will be purple and dim. White would be between 4300K and 6000K. The closer to 4300K it will have more yellow and be brighter, and the closer to 6000K it will be more blue and dimmer. If you get a bulb with a color temperature above 6000K it will be blue-ish in color. 8000K is pretty much blue. Above 8000K gets more purple. As a rule of thumb, the higher the Kelvin temperature of a bulb the dimmer it will be and the less yellow it will have. The lower the Kelvin temperature of the bulb the brighter it will be and the more yellow it will have.

As for projector headlights, if you want to go that route, I recommend talking to IZN TRBL and going with an HID retrofit. He will take a set of stock 03-05 headlight assemblies and install a projector into them. (For an idea of what this might look like, see the pics below. He can do different styles and colors depending on your preference though ) HID stands for "High Intensity Discharge" and is the current cream of the crop in automotive lighting. It's used by Volvo, Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes, and all of the other high end automobiles and offers light output that vastly outperforms standard halogen applications. I don't ever recommend converting a vehicle to HID lighting without a proper set of projectors though. Stock reflector headlights for a Cavalier are not designed for the amount of light output that HID offers, and the resulting effect is insanely bright lights that are a nuiscance to other drivers. Ever pass somebody with their bright lights on? It's like that only brighter.

My advice, never cheap out on your HID setup. If you are going to do it, go all the way and do it right. If you can't afford to do it right, then don't do it.

Your cheapest solution for white headlights are new halogen bulbs. Your brightest, and imo best looking solution for afterdark white colored illumination is a proper retrofit of HID projectors and HID bulbs somewhere in the 4300K color temperature. But there are pro's and con's to each path. You have to modify the stock housing to retrofit projectors, this can open the door to not having a tight seal in the housing which may have problems in the future. Plus, you have to install an HID kit, which adds more to the car that can go wrong..

In my honest opinion, if you are going to be using your car solely for daily driving, then just replace your current bulbs with another set of 9007 halogen bulbs in a different color temp. It is the cheapest, easiest, and safest solution for your car that will leave all of the factory parts intact.

Here is mine:
Osram 4300K D2S HID in Hella 90mm D2S projectors with LED angel eyes:

Cutoff:

I have a little bit of glare above the line because the lenses on my headlights aren't perfectly clear, but that glare is minimal compared to what it would look like without projectors.

I wouldn't recommend going with Hella 90mm projectors if you are going to do it.. They look cool, and work well, but they are a PAIN to work with.

Good luck!

^ Glad I could help

Silvania advertises the Silverstars as "The Whitest, Brightest Light" so that may be the direction you want to go if you intend to stick with halogen bulbs.

But to help you out here is a chart from OSRAM Silvania that shows the color spectrum and lists a few different brands and where they are on the spectrum.

Green, Blue, Red, and Amber are illegal for headlight use. You need to choose a bulb with a temperature within the "legal white limits" box to avoid getting in trouble with the police.

Removing the headlights is pretty simple. You just pop your hood and there are 2 bolts holding each headlight in, and one clip. Just remove those bolts, and pull the headlight straight out. You might encounter resistance from the clip, so be careful not to break or bend it. The clip is located at the bottom of the headlight, and snaps into the engine bay. If you can't get the headlight out, don't foce it. Take some needle nose pliers and carefully pinch the clip from within the engine bay and gently slide the headlight out. There should be 3 plugs on the rear of the 03-05 headlight, the biggest one is for the primary headlight (the one you want to replace), the one next to that is for your primary turn signal/parking light, and the tiny one next to that is your blinker. Just be careful not to touch the glass part of your new bulb when you mount it, or it could explode. Never ever handle automotive bulbs by the glass part.

If you buy the bulbs at autozone, i think they will install them for you if you want, and you can watch to see how they do it for future reference. If you are the kind of person who doesnt mind doing your own work to your car though and want a decent resource on how to take things apart and put them together you might want to buy a Hanes repair manual. I've known some people who say they suck, but I use a Hanes manual for both of my cars and find them very helpful and informative. They have detailed instructions as well as photographs and illustrations on how to do all kinds of maintenance to your car.

When you reinstall the headlight, just snap the clip in, and then line the headlight up to the mounting holes and bolt it down. just be careful not to strip the mounting bolts, I've stripped 3 out of 4 of mine so far and I always try to be really careful.. for some reason (and maybe its just my car) the headlight bolts seem to like to strip. It isn't that big of a deal though, you can put a nut behind the bolt to secure it.. its just annoying.

I believe they are under the radiator shroud. there are little black round clips, with those, the centers pull up (you'll need a screwdriver)...

only need to remove as many as needed to get to the headlight bolts.

I forgot about that shroud, I haven't had one on my car in so long that I forgot about it... it doesn't fit on my car with my front bumper, sorry about that.

For a guide to removing the headlights and the shroud check your owners manual. I think it's page 5-45, but check the table of contents to be sure. It should be under "bulb replacement".

IZN TRBL, Inc. does custom projector retrofitting for Sunfires and Cavaliers. Check out his website to see samples of his work, and what he has to offer.
