turn signl bulbs
Tuesday, January 02, 2007 12:49 PM
i planon changing my front turn signal bulbs (3357), which are double filament, to led lights. im not worried about keeping the two stage function, i'd just like to have it be on when its on and off when its off. is there a bulb type that has the same base as the 3357, but is only a single stage bulb?

not around here... i have yellow corners, they'll pass me with those...

maybe i should say i do want them to maintain their functionality as turn signals, but i want them to be off when im not signaling.

Normaly your marker lights/signals are on when you headlights are on, you want the front marker lights to be off when you are driving with your headlights on and to only come on as signal lights when you make a turn?
I am not sure if that is possibale, there is probaly more involoved then just a different bulb; probaly some wiring to mess with i would think.

cut the parking light wire. Problem solved.

Or get some 3x56 bulbs, which are single stage.

I have a suggestion though, when you install the bulbs, if you go with load resistors (to stop the "blinkers on crack" effect), make sure its attached to something metal and not plastic... they get pretty warm and can melt through a plastic piece like it was butter.

im planning on using them as lower amber turns up front, two stage. im assuming that means they have a dimmer and a brighter light output, just like a double filament incandescent bulb

that should work fine, because the stock 96 lowers, the bulb points upwards so its all reflective coming out, the full brightness of the leds wont be what shines through

^^do they make ur turnsignals blink fast tho? or did u add a resistor or electronic flasher? and they do work as turnsignals?

the ones from superbright leds like the ones i posted the link to come with resistors built in. at least the ones for my cluster, the #74's for my hvac, and 194's for the front uppers did.

If you are just using the 194's, no they won't change the blinker speed.

The 3x57 bulbs up front on the other hand....

ugh... my local autozone has the most unintelligent people working there i've ever met. there are some stupid people around here, but this is a different kind of dumb. like imported dumb. take all the dumb you could possibly carry, and your friends could possibly carry, and its still not as dumb as one autozone employee around here.
