Putting 03+ Side Moldings Back On
Tuesday, January 09, 2007 7:38 AM
Okay, I am considering putting my side moldings back on the Cav. I know when I took them off there was some super-strong glue like substance bonding them to the car. My question is, to put them back on, what product out there is good enough for a job like this? Is 3M double-sided tape good enough or should I find something stronger?

Well, I said once before that I only took them off for paint purposes, since I didn't want fresh paint over the molding and not underneath. I have always liked my moldings. Its just time that they came out of the Dragon-R Intake box, lol.

3M double sided tape is fine. Just take off all the old tape from the molding and clean it well with a wax and grease remover or alcohol. Do the same to the door where you are going to be sticking the molding back on. Use a piece of tape as a guide line to help you line the molding back onto the car or someone behinde you to tell you to move it up or down.
I like to use the tape and then stand back, look at it and see if I like where it is at. Make sure to look at the other side if it is still on to see how close the molding comes to the edge of the door also.
Just some helpfull hints.

^^^exactly what Dave said. 3m tape will be fine. i dont reccommend this, but i know people whos skirts are held on by nothing but 3m tape. just prep good and you'll have a good end result
