Hey,
Did the searching, and came up with jack s*it. Anyways, getting to the point. I work at a car dealership in Detail, and we always do buffing and what not. I'm buying my own buffer soon so i can start buffing at my house, but here is the question. We always get the compounds and chemicals from a chemical company that doesn't sell to individual consumers. They only sell in mass with companies and what not. Thats how we get our compounds, foam pads, wool pads, chemicals, etc. Where would I go to buy these for my home use?? I would assume I can buy a decent buffer from a hardware store and what so that shouldn't be a problem, but the compounds and chemicals are another issue. I've heard Meguars (sp?) makes good products for waxing, claying, etc, but do they make anything for buffing compounds? I need a good product to use with a wool pad and a good product to use for a finishing pad. Waxing afterwards is just simple.
So, any good recommendations for products, or any insight as to where to buy them or what not?
3m has everything you should need
I haven't checked the 3M yet . . .
DrPaul, this is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. They even sell the same exact buffer I use at work, LOL. They have everything on this site from interior, buffing compounds, wax for a ridiculously cheap price. They don't give the buffing compounds an abrasive level though. The only problem with that, doesn't really say what compounds they have work for starting off (wool), and which ones work for going back over with a foam. They just say medium and what not. I can work though it though, lol. Thank for this site, awesome stuff
Big into the Meguiars I take it? lol. Its the same line of products my friend at work was telling me about, but not this site. The Heavy for wool, medium for foam, the polishing for wax I'm assuming. Probably next week or so I'm going to be buying that buffer off the site. Maybe you could answer this. On the DeWalt buffer page, it has says the recommended pads page and has a link. When you go to the link, it has pads that have an 8" and a 6 1/2" pad. Can you use the both of those with it? At my work we only use the bigger ones, but I've read that using bigger pads can put more shake and strain on the buffer? Looks like I'm going to have some fun come the Spring and make my car look brand new again, LOL.
they recomend the 8" for the dewalt, any reason you want the dewalt rather then the porter cable(meguiers)
I didn't see the porter cable for sale on the site. I saw pics of it, but I didn't see a specific entry selling it. I was going to go for the DeWalt cause thats what I'm used to using anyways. Been using that one for a few months now, plus the speeds are adjustable on it. Higher speeds for wool pads and what not, then lower for finishing. Kinda like a one stop shopping center, lol. Do you recommend otherwise?
the g100 is aka porter cable....i think model is 7424 ? but if your used to the dewalt already, i would stick with that....
Yea, I figure with the adjustable speeds you can use it for everything anyways. How much is the Porter Cable as opposed to the Dewalt? The Dewalt after shipping is about $200. Depends on how the prices look at and if their good.

Hmm, not a bad lil price. I'll stick with the Dewalt though since I know whats going on with it. This is horrible, I'm going to spend ridiculous amounts on this site, lol.
Cool, thank for the different links. I'll check them out, but I don't think I'll be buying the shoes to wash my car in, lol. I've seen the Liquid Ice line, but I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet. The whole "works perfect in direct sunlight" and what not kinda bothers me. Then again, I'm used to the wash, clay, wax on, wax off style. I might look into it in the spring and see if the Liquid works any better.
