DRL Disable Problem
Saturday, February 17, 2007 9:44 PM
Ok, so I read the sticky for disabling the drl's. Problem, when I turn the lights on the abs, trac off light, and the brake light on the dash come on, any one else experience this issue, if so what did I do wrong, cut the dark blue, actually royal blue, kinda matches the car, and grounded it. Now I have a christmas tree on my dash (whole bunch of lights, the ones I listed). I grounded it in the exact location that was said, the OBD-II mount, haven't started the car, just turned the ignition on, and put the e-brake off, no drl's, but when I turn the lights on all this other stuff happened. Something I find weird, it's a five-speed with a trac-off light, there is no traction control, that I know of.

Hmm.. i've not heard of this problem before.. when you start the car does everything seem normal? Or do all of those lights remain lit on your dash? Do you hear clicking for a bit then the service light comes on?

The only problem I've had with this disable is the clicking w/ service light which means that the ground has come undone.. the DRLs should still be disabled, but the car thinks there is a problem with them so it throws a service light.. if this is the case make sure the loop end is connected properly to the wire, and that the wires didnt slip in your quick splice connector.

If your still having your problem after you start the car I'd recommend reconnecting the DRLs.. better to be safe than sorry.. I have no idea what could be wrong, this is the first i've heard of it.

Rechecked everything today. Disconnected the battery over night, just in case. When I reconnected everything, the DRL's didn't work, of course, and none of the problems I had last night came back. But if the problem does come back I'll reconnect the DRL's and let you guys know.
