go to your local paint store with the HOK paint core and they can mix you up the paint . When i go and get paint I have the color code and have then mix it using Nason paint. you can aslo have then mix it using Croma base paint but it's more money

well i know i can do that but i would like to be able to compare ect..id prefer to use single base since the cost i was told to do the hok candy was going to be 1400 just for paint. Then clear and al that on top so too much..but im loking for a very bright burnt orange or a bright darker lime green..phil

If you mean single stage and not "single base"... I wouldn't do it. If you want a quality job, single stage is not the way to go. There's no clear over it to block out a lot of the UV rays, and single stage will fade faster than 2 stage (base/clear). You get what you pay for, and if you cheap out on body work/paint, you're going to get cheap work.

If you have one near you, go to an auto body supply store. I have one near me that carrys PPG paint, DuPont paint, HOK, X-otic, Alsa, etc... so you can compare them side by side. Look around, or go to a shop and tell them what you want and go from there. If you wanted a Kandy/Candee paint, i'd check out X-otic. They seem to be a little cheaper than HOK, and the quality is the same if not better in my opinion. I priced a Candee (that's how X-otic spells it) paint for my Sunfire when I still had it, the metallic base, Candee, clear, and all of the other things I needed were under $800 for paint.

Don't cheap out on stuff like this, save up for what you really want and make sure the shop guarantees their work when you go.

^^ no i mean single base..sorry prolly the wrong term but that was the easiest way for me to explain it..i mean i dont want a tri coat paint..ie..base, candy, clear..i would never do acrylic..phil

It'd help if we knew which one you were talking about. If you're talking about Alsa, great paints, durable, no issues if the painter is good... and yes I've sprayed Alsa paints... and I hope you're getting someone else to paint them because no one on here will take the time to do a full write up... can't learn painting on the internet.

The proper term for "single base" is single stage. I.e. no base/clear... just mix and spray and you're done (well it's not THAT simple). You shouldn't get charged anymore for a single stage paint job than a 2-stage... 2stage (base/clear) is going to be more durable and last longer... just as you shouldn't be charged anymore really for a tri-stage paint... if it's a "factory" color. Candee/kandy's and chamelions are going to run more obviously because of the specialty of the paint...

At any rate... just like you wouldn't use cheap crappy parts for your motor, you don't want to cheap out on bodywork/paint. You DO get what you pay for... I'd save up and get what you want

Oh... well most people that have been doing body work for that long don't ask those types of questions, they already know the answers... so sorry for "misunderstanding" your question
