side door moldings

Hey guys...need a little help here...I took off the side door moldings on my 04 LS Sport, what is the best way to get that adhesive tape off? I slowly picked off one side, which took like an hour and a half...but even that, there is still glue residue left over..any ideas?

go to a paint supply store and get a 3m eraser wheel that is used to remove pin stipping and molding residue. It is a light yellowish colored rubber wheel that you put in a cordless drill and spin it at approx 3,000 rpm. Does not hurt the paint at all and only took me 25 minutes to do the entire car, and I have a 4 door. They cost approx 20-25 dollars depending on location. I used to work in an autobody shop and I swear by these things. Saves alot of time, clearcloat and your THUMBS!! :-)

Can you give the name for this tool, possibly? Im looking at doing the same thing...i peeled the molding off on my Sunbird, and rubbed the glue off with my fingers...never again....my fingers were twice as big after the blisters formed...

Goo Gone for me. Got my pinstriping and the tape from the moldings off, took maybe 20 min.

Goo Gone didn't work for me...found some 3M adhesive/wax remover at WalMart...took a while but it helped out alot...taking the moldings off wasn't the most fun thing

I tried using Simple Green and Goo Gone. They worked good for getting the minor residue off but didnt work well for getting the bulk of it off. Paint thinner works better but like said before, Use caution and make sure to give your car a good wash after your done. Heat Guns work well for getting rid of pin stripe and softening the glue.

I used a heat gun to remove the moldings and a lot of "oil thumb" to remove the warm glue. As the glue get colder, I used soapy water to keep it wet and the heat gun to warm it again. Pics with and without moldings...

i used a heat gun and plastic razor blade.... no metal is always a good thing... then after i got the moldings off, i used simple green and the plastic blade when it was soaked with simple green. came off nice and easy. also, if you have a fish net (ordinary fish tank net) squirt simple green on the leftover tape and use the net ONLY and rub it with your hands... thats how me n my friend did his fire.

It does not have any holes, it is just double sided adhesive holding the moldings on. Same for the badges as well.
