Whats up everyone - Me and a few friends are going to South Padre Island this weekend for Texas Heatwave!! -
My friend will be driving her Mazda 3 w/ a bodykit and were just trying to save it from being all chipped up - I remember reading a couple of different options of how to Tape up the front end or what to use...but I FORGOT...of course.lol -
Any information would be great!! - Thanx guys!

I saw someone use the "blue" painters tape, but i have no experience with this, just do a little reasearch to ensure it wont mess up ur car but i wouldnt see any reason why it shouldnt work.
Yah painter tape works ..definatly the cheapest way to go.. some ive heard use clear vynil or if your very crafty you can make a vynil nose bra for it..really woudlnt be hard and overall would be the best protection..phil
Painters tape FTW
Use painters tape (the widest you can find for the hood and large areas, smaller width for detail areas) and then, for added measure, throw one of the bras on over the tape.
I'm a bitch. Look out. I'm here to start drama.
Please take everything I say seriously.
Green tape always wins.. i get tons of it for free. and if i were u id try to get the 2" wide.. i dunno if they make wider or not.. green tape i beleive it a lil more sticky then blue. but it might leave a lil residue but it just depends on how long its on.. i've had blue tape come off while driving around 50-70
I seem to remember a picture of Darkstars' car with the fron bumper covered in blue tape (probably the painter's tape), I don't know why I remember that but the picture stands out in my head
Go Premium, it builds character!
hmmm interesting...so now i'm thinkin....blue or green....blue or green - Well be Driving 10 Hours - 6 hrs one day 4 hrs the next... hmmmmmmmmm -
Appreacite the responses!!!

At the local autozone, I have seen different kinds of tape all next to each other - painters tape, regular masking tape and some other type of automotive painting tape (green?) that they claim does not leave tape lines when painting. It seems like the Blue painters tape would be the best of those listed.
Make sure to get the 3M brand - I have used the cheap stuff while painting at my house and the blue dye bled onto some sections.
Check out my Part Out List!! Great Prices !!

I was at Checker auto and i saw something made by duplicolor and it was like a spray on bra. they had black or just clear. does anyone know if this would work. it says that it will spray off with a car wash or soap and water.

Blue painter's tape ftw. I remember seeing the video of the two guys who went on a trip with the car completely covered in it.

Blue Painters tape FTW!
I used the suff meant for "delacate surfaces" 7 hours of highway it held up preaty well, lost a little bit but not much. Retaped it and drove home, on the way home got stuck in a crazzy thunderstorm, the delicate surface blue tape will not hold up to rain FYI, about an hour out form home I was flinging tape pieces all over the higway hahahah
Thats hood
But i guess it keeps the car looking good.
lol sure is - !! but thanks for the help everyone!! Worked out perfecT!

Has anyone ever tried
THIS for travelling protection. It looks interesting but the cost may make it a litlle impractical. Could be useful for burnout contests. Spray the area and smoke em and then peel off the residue. Frame it and hang it on the wall. LOL

my LORD and i thought i was nuts for using siran wrap on my front end. i'll have to try this ISH next time i have a long road trip to a car show
did u see my cavy at the show
Use the green painters tape, it's automotive. It's less sticky then blue tape. Blue is made to stick to interior latex paint. Green is made to stick to automotive paint and not mess up the clearcoat and leave less residue.
