gauging interest for a GP: license plate frames
Friday, March 09, 2007 1:18 PM
well i am going to be making a GP whenever my premium membership goes through and i just wanted to see how everyone would like custom license plate frames. For starts in the GP it will only be black frames in a few different styles. Wanted to see what style everyone thinks i should offer for everyone, the top 2 styles I'm going to be offering. Thanks everybody. These will come with 4 holes and no hardware.

The thick borders on # 2 & #3 are 1" high which makes good for 3/4" lettering. The thin borders on #1 & #3 is 3/4" which makes room for 1/2" lettering which would fit for visibility. Lettering color will be various single colors.

these are illegal in some states, oddly enough... like here in nj. im not saying that if they were available as .org frames, that i wouldn't get one, because i probably would, but people should check legality in their area so theres no surprises.

yes, definitely check and see if their legal in your state because i am in no way responsible for anything legal or anything else that happens because of you buying these.

You should get one style that doesn't have the two holes at the bottom, because my bumper only has the top bolts and I hate havin the holes there. I would definitely be in for one if you made one with only the top two screw holes and said j-body.org (like an all black frame with white writing and blue outlined words or something similar)

I am leaning towards frame number 1. There's just something that I like about the fact that it's the same size and all on the top and bottom, where as the other two are not. I don't know, I'm just picky like that I guess .

I totally agree that JBO frames would be flippin' sweet, especially for those of us who don't like stickers but still want to show our support for The Org.! I would love a black frame with silver lettering. I'm picturing "The J-Body Organization" on the top and "www.j-body.org" on the bottom or something along those lines. Okay... I'm getting way too excited over this now .

i'll have to talk to Dave or a mod about this because i don't want to get into any trouble doing so because they mikght take offense to it if i mention j-body.org on it. I would however do something like i heart my j-body frames in the mean time.

I will be ordering a batch of #2 & #3 Monday and will have them within a few days for everyone. I am also offering 100% full carbon fiber frames which i can offer plain or lettered for you. These won't be as cheap as the regular frames but it's a great touch to any vehicle. PM me if you have any questions/comments.

# 1 or 2 would be the most legal versions. I believe when the registration tabs on the lower left/right of the plates are covered, that's when legality issues come about. Atleast in MN.

TEXAS just passed a law that nothing is to cover the license plates. so it depends on how picky the cop is. but i know its not suppose to cover where it says texas for sure, so all 3 of those would be at high risk in texas. even if it just covers half the letters for "texas" at the top.

Yup #1 would be the only legal one here in MN, got pulled over because my frame was blocking my tabs.

Actually the law states the frame just cant cover and of the lettering on the plate itself in Texas.

Just an FYI.

You're going to need to go with a Premium Membership in order to set that GP up.

I like the Carbon Fiber one.
