Hey everyone, I am working on getting started on the suicide hood mod with the lesabre hinges, I have searched for some decent pics to get a general idea as to the placement of the hinges and where to mount on the hood. I would appreciate it if anyone know of any closer pics of the location of the hinges. I have seen one pic that was great for it but I cannot find it, it was on a white cavy I believe and it showed a pic of the hinges mounted above the radiator support. Anyone know what happened to that pic? Thanks In advance!

i have a how to on how to do it with ur stock hinges. send me an e-mail if u want it.
I haven't seen a resolution as to which Buick Le Sabre hinges will convert a J-body hood to suicide.
The Le Sabre nameplate stretches from 1951 to 2005 with eight generations of structural and facelift changes.
It has been on at least three GM platforms:
FR B-Body (1962-1985)
FF H-Body (1986-1999)
FF G-Body (2000-2005)
If Le Sabre hinges fit, why won't companion GM platform hinges also work?
Can anyone settle this issue?
dont use stock hinges and i hope u install hood pins
yes dont use stock hindges and you dont need hood pins and they are late 80's early 90's lesabre hindges. just go to the junk yard and browse around. this is what mine looks like but i dont have a write up for it sorry i just got hindges and made it work.
and there are no close ups sorry
Andrew,
Your pics and data are a great help.
Thank you.
Jack
why your welcome. everyone else i show those pics to are like that is gay show me how you did it haha.
hey andrew does that hood rest on the front bumper? and did you still use your stock latch in the front? thanks matt
hey andrew. did you have to cut and weld the hinges at all. and what exactly does the hood rest on?? thanks alot man.
i ususally put rag between the bumper and hood i never got around to making a bracket to hold it off the bumper yet. and a little cutting went on the hindges but no welding. and yes i did use the stock latch and i have to make my rear ones still i just dont have a welder where i am. i am at school so it will come. but i was doing 106 mph and my hood barley moves not even having the rear latches in there. no big deal. hope all this helps everyone that has been asking for along time.
umm dude i am freaking in love with that car...
Andrew,
It is evident that several other J-Body members are as interested in your suicide hood as i am.
It would appear that, in addition to the GM hinge pieces, a similar system could be constructed from two pieces of 1/8" / 3/16' flat stock with two fender and two hood brackets made to match.
To create such hinges three measurements would be very helpful:
A. The center to center distance of the holes in the arms.
B. The center of the holes in the fender brackets measured from the forward corner of the fender.
C. The center of the holes in the hood brackets measured from the front corner of the hood.
Could you help by sharing these dimensions with us?
Jack
i dont have the car with me it got stolen and i still havent got it back from insurance but should soon so if i remember i will try to get that

I'm diggin the hood. I just picked up some hinges from the junk yard. What type of screws or bolts did you use to attach hinges to the hood??
