Full Bomex bodykit installation problems... 2005 Sunfire
Wednesday, March 28, 2007 11:44 AM
I bought the Full Bomex bodykit and i tried to install the side skirts yesterday and i couldnt do it because there are these clips on the original sunfire side skirts that i took off, and the bomex side skirts dont have anywhere that you can put these clips on... I havent tried to remove the front or rear bumper, but i hope they dont have clips like the side skirts do cuz i have no clue how i can secure the side skirts, i was thinking if i can glue the bomex side skirts to the body of my car....

Im sure there are people here that own a 03-05 sunfire and has the Bomex bodykit, or if anyone know anything about installing it, can you please help me?

Im trying to save $200 to install it myself cuz thats how much my bodyshop wants to install it... plus $300 to paint it...

hmmm...not really sure on the clips you are talking about...but you can use 3m double sided tape across the skirt to connect under the door, then bolt/scres in each fender well to secure. thats how most kits are installed

and the same for the front and rear bumpers too then?

Oh and the 3m double sided tape is strong enough to hold the side skirts onto the body?

well...the front/rear bumpers will be secured just like stock using the stock hardware....dont use 3m tape on those

but for the skirts...its strong enough to hold them....i wouldnt rely on only tape..id use screws in the fender wells along with it, but i honestly have seen people use just tape and it holds, but i wouldnt trust it personally.

just make sure you get the dark grayish kind not the white which is meant for indoor use

i wouldnt recommend it.....cant say ive used it, but is stick with the foamy double sided tape. most kits are built with a lip for that tape to grip to.

before you apply the 3m tape to the side skirt I would take a peice of sand paper and rough up the surface of the side skirt, seems to allow the tape to get some extra grip on the skirt
