I really didn't know where to put this at so i guess if this is the wrong forum please move it.
I was lookin at some spray guns for when i paint my car, becuase lets face it my public school autobody class doesn't have the best guns in the world and they havn't been takin care of that good. i found some good deals on a 3 Pc. gun set from Dura-Block, a 3 Pc. Gun set from Vaper and a 2 gun set from Mark1. So i was wondering if any of you guys or girls that have been doin autobody for a longer time then me had used any of these companies or any experice with them?
My top two choices are either:
Sata
Iwata
haven't used any of those

I have Iwata airbrushes and paint guns and I like them alot.
my top feed paint gun is an ATD HVLP
my primer gun is a Cambell Hauspeed bottom feed
I've only used Iwata and Devilbiss, but have heard good things about the Sata guns as well.

Top feed also known as "Gravity feed", and bottom feed also known as "syphon feed"
I've only ever used devilbiss.. when i was in my highschool auto body i bought my own gun cuz i was tired of trying to paint or clear and someone's @!#$up before screw up my paint or clear.. so i bought a devilbiss starter kit(the 129.99 kit,
http://www.tcpglobal.com/spraygundepot/finishstart.aspx )
and i just bought the finishline3 setup couple weeks back for myself to get back into the auto body painting instead of mechanics
Sata, by far the best gun Ive used.
Highshcool autobody guns I dont know, the tech school I went to WTI had Sata gravity feed.
SATA!!!!!!
can i haz bondo
yeah the tech school i went to had the Sata Reduced pressures with the digital pressure regulators built in (yes a slick @!#$ gun indeed)
before i jump the gun and say those guns are crap ( i know for sure the first two you listed are very low quality) what are you looking for out of these guns? obviously to paint your car but, how high of a quality job are you wanting..if this is just a "get some color on the car to sell it job" and don't have plans on using the guns ever again (not that you couldn't just meaning you don't paint much at all) then you could get by with those
if your looking for a high quality job,or plan to go into a painting profession , id talk to your shop teacher and see if you can get him to order a higher quality gun through the school, obviously you would have to pay him up front, but schools can usually get a hefty price reduction
remember the more you spend on a gun doesn't ensure a high quality job, if seen decent jobs done with cheap guns, and @!#$ jobs done with expensive guns. the more time spent behind the trigger, the better off you will be
sorry im being windy, but remember to read the labels on your products a couple times and make sure you understand them clearly, things like how thick the layer should be, how long it takes to dry, which chemicals are ok to mix together, always wear a resperator when in the booth and don't rush things
last note, anyone who walks into a booth while your painting will be eligible to be punched directly in the face

We all love foose
sata, i used a devilbiss as my first and it worked pretty dang good. i thik the devilbiss gti is a good starting gun. not to spendy and easy to use
awsome i def think im gettin that Startline kit from Devilbiss. Im just looking for a good starter gun for when im at home and maybe at my future tech school to use and pratcie with and then become a pro at it some day
Its not just the gun its the painter,Chip Foose could paint a car with spray paint and make it look good.

if that was direceted twords me, i ment it as a joke
im using a cheapo set from pep boys. Took some time to adjust right, but once properly done, it does pretty good.
Its a gravity feed HLVP, brand unknown because its not in front of me.
...
yes grav feed is AKA HVLP high volume low preasure. i just got done doing a pearl job on the gas tank and frame of my bike using a 3gun vapor set and took the parts to a local "pro bike shop" to ask them what they thought, they wanted to hire me on the spot, i so deffinatly agree that its the painter more than the gun.
many changes in the making
my favorite part about doing bodywork,.......... bondo bugers

just an fyi, gravity feed is not AKA HVLP... the feed (i.e. gravity/syphon) is the way the paint feeds through the gun, you can have a gravity feed gun that is not HVLP. (HVLP is High Volume Low Pressure you're right there).
But yeah, give a VERY skilled painter a really crappy gun and odds are they'll turn out a better job than a less skilled painter using the best gun money can buy. It is the painter more than the gun, but a good gun always helps
