hey,
I dono if this is the right forum, but here it goes anyways...
I recently put a new trunk on my car and had it painted at a paint shop. They graciously gave me a couple extra plastic bottles of color matched paint so i can paint things like the doorhandles and such on my car...(about 3 oz. each)
so it was sitting on my counter a couple days,.... i pick it up.... What The Hell!!!! its now brownish gooop with a layer of silver on the bottom..... is this normal? can i reverse it.... paint thinner perhaps....... help me plz, i dont wana go back and be like can u plz mix me up another bach.....
Thnx in advance for any help...
color is your paint?
you may have to remix it
its silver, off of a 2005 sunfire..... wat do u mean by remix? like get another batch? shake like hell?....
shake haha mabe ... look up paint mixing .. i have no idea .. mabe you can take a small drill attach a clean attachment and mix it that way ... dont go by what i say i have no idea .. search it on google ... .. since you said its silver .. the metalic probably just settled to the bottom of the jar
mix the paint in the bottle
ive already tryed shakin it for about an hour straight... no luck, thats why i was thinkin along the line of thinner or something....
no thinner ... you cant shake paint .. wont mix correctly ... it has to be mixed ... use a blender if you have spare one .. on a low speed
well i guess one of the two bottles is garbage, i put thinner in it... my bad,.... but the blend eh? well its a lil little to put in a blender, ill try a bit on a drill maybe....
try to take it to walmart of any paint place . and have them put it n there machines to mix it for you
adding paint thinner to auto paint is a REALLY dumb idea... for one
take a stick or something and STIR THE BOTTOM to loosen the metallics... shake and stir vigorously... or see if some paint mixing place will throw it on a shaker for you.
if it works... great! If not... then you need new paint.
you have to figure, silver is basically just metallics, with a slight touch of a dark tint (which is USUALLY black) to "bring out" the metallics when it's sprayed.
yupp , i wouldt add thiner to it , and just about the only two options u got is to stir the %#%# out of it or get new paint .
^^^ like he said probly just stuck to bttom .
