Mine are mounted directly under the striker that catches the door latch on the body of the car, though it's a few layers thick I felt it was the best location.

so u just have the shaved door kit?? with no poppers? thats what i wanna do..i dont want poppers to throw my door out. id rather it just unlatch and ill open.
^^^ That's the way mine worked as well... The rubber gaskets had enough spring in them to pop the door open a few inches, and I just grabbed it from there.

yea bro. just the spal kit installed.i didnt want to put the poppers on either so we tried it without the poppers and it swung the door out a good 4 inches or so with more than enough room to grab the door.

Mine are in the same location. However I noticed they're adjustable.
If you could do me a huge favor and measure from the body to the end of the popper I'd greatly appreciate it!
I dont think you need poppers on a J. I dont have any on my car either, I just have the little "actuators?" that unlatch the door, and it opens all by itself. and trust me, my doors are HEAVY, afterall, they have a metal bar welded on........ and they still open.

SPAL kit was an easy install IMO, I even did the trunk release option as the shop whom installed the Viper had neglected to. So I figured why not, it only required a relay and a little extra wiring.
I wired the majority of it up in the living room, marked what went where, mounted the unit in the car, hooked up the power, grounded it, and ran the solenoid power out to the doors. I installed the box where my passenger airbag used to reside. Plenty of space in there, plus made running power etc. a lot easier, and very well hidden.
use the poppers it always be a level surface you are parked on, use them trust me

install was easy. took a few hours to install them. just make sure u put a wire through the lil loop for the lock or just disconnect the lock period. wouldnt want it to lock on accident. and as for the poppers, just install the kit first and then see if u need them. ive had my doors shaved for about a few weeks already and been on all kinds of hills, ramps, driveways, etc. and i have no problem opening the doors without the poppers

i had the shaved kit with poppers on my old pickup (mazda B2200), and since i didnt want alot of swing in the doors i mounted the popper itself in the door jamb, between the hinges. i found it gave just enough push to the doors, while still being out of view. id rather not see the popper when you open your door.
