As many have probably seen my wing got ripped off my car. Now my trunk lid is sitting a little high on the pass side from about the middle of the lid down to the rear pass side tail light. I was wondering if this is adjustable? Only thing that I can see as far as fitment goes is the little bolts underneith the trunk lid that hold the swinging arms on to the lid itself. The other end of the hinge has the bolts going through from the inside car rear deck lid down into the trunk.
The lid doesnt look bent. I can push it down lightly into place to where I want it so the whole quarter panel/lid are nice and even and lined up. But it just springs back up into place. I can feel the hinges on the inside of the lid springing up.
How do I adjust this? Is it those medal bars that go from quarter panel to quarter panel inside the trunk (or hinge to hinge i mean)? I thought those where only for making it pop up when you opened it up
Can some give some info on this? I searched and searched and found nothing. Any help would be appriciated.
Regards,
adjust the latch to hold it down
But how can I do that? only one side of the trunk lid is out of wack? The latch isnt adjustable for height as far as I know. Only side to side. Can you elaborate?
i'd adjust the 4 screws under the trunk..it sounds like one side slipped or something from wher ethey were bolted in so now its crooked
if possible....the best way ive found to align trunks is as follows:
this requires 2 people. loosen all 4 bolts that hold the trunk to the arms, and have one person close the trunk and hold it to the level spot that you want. slide in the back seat into the trunk area and tighten the bolts from inside all while one person holds the trunk level from the outside. adjust as necessary.
thats how i always do it with great results

That sounds like a great thing to try. Do you think it has to do with the bolts on the trunk lid itself? Since it's only higher by a smidge on the pass side from about middle trunk to the tail light . Are you sure it has nothing to do with the hinges? But ill sure give it a try with the trunk lid bolts first. Dp those two little bolts control the trunk lid height? I mean if it sits level with the quarter panels.
Regards,
When they tried to take your wing they most likely bent your hinges. What I would do is open the trunk half way and twist it. So if the passanger side is higher, twist the trunk clock wise. Like push up on the drivers side and push down on the passanger side, clock wise. Hope that makes sense and helps.
The hinges should move real easy so don't give it a big tug at first.

Ill keep that in mind when I give this a try. I think I might loosen the trunk lid bolts as well. I want to try and fix my gaps on each quarter panel side so that there even. It also looks like the drivers side part of the trunk lid is down a bit further as well. Like the edge of the trunk lid doesnt line up with the edge of the quarter panel. It does on the pass side. so the trunk lid has to be shifted up toward the rear window on the drivers side a smidge.
Plus the gap is a little bigger on the drivers side. So I'm assuming that will be fixed with loosening the trunk lid bolts and holding it down like joey said above.

that's great advice,I switched lids on my 98 cav to a shaved lid and have the same problem, the passenger side is up a little higher than the drivers side

that doesn't quite work when you have a perminant wall for ur enclosure back there
nice advice though def!~
ill have to give the loosening of the trunk lid bolts. I'm wondering what I can use on each side to adjust the gaps. One thing that wasnt mentioned was do you close the trunk lid so that the lock latch's? Will it make it harder to adjust if it was? Like I mean to tight to move with it latched? So do you leave it latched or unlatched for adjustment?
