when i bought my cav, someone had already added an aftermarket spoiler w/ a LED brake light. i want to hook this brake light up so that it works when i start my car and works the same way my headlights do. is there a way that i can wire the brake light so that it comes on at the same time my headlights do?
thanks!
brown wire in the tail harness.
yea, but i dont think the third brake light will have dual filiment, so it'll just be the same birghtness, whether you step on the brake or not
Since the brown wire is for the park wire, yes, it will stay the same brightness either way.
is this way the easiest? i was just gonna run some wire up to the fuse box, but what does everyone else prefer?
thanks!
From the spoiler to the closest taillight ~= 5 feet of wire tops. From the spoiler to the fuse panel ~= 15 feet of wire, plus pulling interior panels to tuck it away. Also allows for an increased chance of shorting by rub-through.
ditto. but also. didnt all cavs come pre-wired for a spoiler. so shouldnt there be a plug on the trunk lid already??? altho. that would only turn them on with the brake pedal.

Can't say for sure... I do know that the cars that had spoilers were prewired for the rear deck third brake light...
Kind of off topic, but I've come out in the morning to find that someone had stolen my third breaklight. Unscrewed it and cut the wires.
Who the hell steals a 3rd brake light???

That's what I thought. And it wasn't just an impules thing either, they had a screwdriver and wire cutters. It only cost me 3$ for a new one at the junkyard anyway, but still.

So you really want to drive around with your brake light on all the time?
