Paint Problem
Tuesday, April 17, 2007 2:42 PM
so my brother decided to be a nice guy and as a random early birthday present, decided to wash and wax my car while i was sleeping one day. HE WAXED IT FIRST then washed it...
obviously you can tell where this is going...
so my hood and trunk are very very scratched up... i can see swirl marks, and every place he touched the wax pad to my car...
what are my options for getting rid of this?

scratch remover im going to try... Scratch X by meguiars
i dont want to get to abrasive with this because i dont know exactly how bad this is, so im avoiding rubbing and polishing compounds... i think they would just make it worse....

should i get the entire car buffed professionally?

this is aweful... im so sad. and i promised him he would never touch my car again...

any good fillers or scratch removers other than scratch X or Scratch Doctor?

how should i apply it... i was thinking 3-5times should be thick enough... ive been told that multiple applications are the best way to go about filling this...

i know they can be removed... and if they cant... someone is paying with blood...jk.

I would start with getting off all the old (new) wax with a good detergent. This should take some of the imbedded dirt with it. Then I'd claybar the whole car, then wax (correctly) and use a good scratch remover if needed.

i just removed the wax with the detergent... it took off some, but i kept it pretty thick on there... so im going to be rewashing it this weekend... claybar is also a thought. and im planning on doing the three step meguiars with wax after about 4 coats of scratch remover. ill let you know how it goes...
thanks

It was the thought that counts?

after you do the scratch remover if you arent happy with how it leaves the paint looking get some meguirs scratch and swirl remover 2.0. the stuff rocks. when you are done with the car you will be able to look into the paint and see 0 scratchs and swirls.

where can you get the scratch remover 2.0? i have scratch X but thats not to great from my experience... i would like to see 0 scratches and swirls

i guess the thought counts... im trying to fix it without him knowing though... but this summer im going to teach him the correct way to detail a car so he can help me out with the 4 cars at my house... im the only one who cares for them
