When I try to open it using the button from inside the car and on the keychain, it sounds like it unlatches, but it won't open up.

did you adjust the spring tension on the lifter spring thing? I think they are called "torsion springs" There are three settings you can put them to. One really slams the trunk open. Mine came set to the middle position. Maybe yours is set to the lower position?
Ethan, where exactly is this?
If you could tell me, I could hopefully fix this problem when I get home from school.
Thank you all for your help.
when u open the trunk, look right under the rear deck. those 2 "rods" that connect to the side arms. those can be adjusted
with my hands or do i need special tools?
oh how i love photo class to "work" on my papers.
I ended up using vice grips I think.....
Be careful though, the springs are pretty strong and I used a screwdriver the first time and the spring flew off the adjustment and cut my thumb pretty good.
now is the problem that the trunk won't fly open when you push the button? do you wan't it to fly open?
Adjust the "rods" like stated above. You can use your hands, but be warned, those rods are very easy to jump out at you. The tension is really strong. Look at how the rods are in place before you start. Use some vice grips and hold on and use your strength to bring it up a notch...the tension will be far greater.
