is there anyway to making carbon fiber have that shine/clear to it like when you 1st buy it? i have a VIS cf trunk that shines and is nice and glossy.

the hood on my s2000 is also vis but its a few years old... its faded and lost that "shine finish" to is.

anyway to fix it? any kind of compound i can spray on or whip on to bring it back?

sand it downa bit and re-clear it, i just did my rk wing and even though i used rattle can clear it worked awesome, if u can get a painter to do it with some better clear and buff it out it should come out even better

get the hood re-cleared.

do a high gritt sanding on the hood and have it re-clear coated.

But have you tried any waxes and rubbing compounds before going through all that work to re-clear it?

just keep it waxed regularly and u shouldnt run into the fading issue.

as for getting the luster back, i would say buff the hell out of it and see.

Easiest solution would be to reclear it. Gelcoat is not UV protective to my knowledge hence your issue..................and no compound/wax is going to bring it back if it's gone, and if it does I guarantee it'll be temporary.

We wetsanded my brand new CF hood with 1000 grit and cleared it with the car and it looks 10x better than it did with the gelcoat.

No body shop around me wanted to clear my C/f hood for me, so what i used was my next best bet. I keep up on polishing it and buffing it after car shows where it has sat in sun all day. Still looks like wet glass....
