Well i've never delt with this type of thing in all the body work i've done. Anyway, i bought this car and one of my price negotiations was that u could tell previous owner curbed the bumper. pretty bad cuz it cracked the bumper and pulled down on the bumper, cracking the paint on the fender.. well i noticed yesterday the crack has gotten longer.. obviously my 30min highway trip to the shop everyday are putting more down stress on the bumper then pulling down on the fender causing the crack to grow. Anyway figured i'd get some quick suggestions as to is there anyway i can fix it? im pretty much agreed on no without repainting but maybe someone has a idea i don't? You can feel the crack too so its not like its just a light scratch..
any ideas? i dont want the paint to just chip off lol, i figured i'd take it to the paint shop and work on getting it repainted most likely..
After seeing that picture, is it wrong that my first impulse would be to find some duct tape?

Wow, I have never seen paint crack on a metal body panel before. I agree with the others, you will have to repaint.

I bet there is Bondo under that paint, I have never seen paint crack like that.
Run a magnet over that spot and see if it sticks if it doesn't you will need more than paint.
Thats exactally what I was thinking CHM, Looks like a filler crack. not a paint crack
I've also never seen the paint crack on a metal panel. There is a good chance that the car was in a bigger accident then you think. Either way, you will need to have it repainted.

That's actually a very good observation... I totally agree with you
its not dented or anything. magnet sticks fine just like the rest of the fender.. i got behind the fender(fairly easy when its stock height lmao) and the fender is straight, no dents, dips, creases, dings.. nothing its all fine and straight
the bumper was curbed pretty bad so i see it as all possible to crack paint. after looking at it, and kinda imagining what happened that spot was almost exactly where i would picture anything would happen to the fender in that situation.
I'm just going to deal with it for now and when i get my new bumper and then when i paint the bumper and sides ill have the fender put in with them. appreciate all the responses
Just tell people its a line from your clear bra
Considering I have had a ton of body work done to my car.... I say it needs to be repainted.

if the bumper was "curbed" badly it was probably not a curb but the concrete median on a highway. iv'e seen a lot of that.
but deff a repaint on the fender for sure.

if you dont want to repaint the fender....just try to apply a fine line of clear nail polish over the crack....other than that...repaint
ClassGlass / RkSport / Eibach / Motegi / Ractive / Borla / K&N
repaint it!!!!! It will just keep showing up and you are going to have to fix it all the time. I did that with mine and had to repaint the whole car the folling year becouse of rust that showed up the next year were I had fixed it before.
if your feeling the crack on metal most likey it is bondo , and it needs to be ground all the way down to metal and start all over
fix it soon if it is cracked bondo rust will soon be there
can i haz bondo
