Headlight Conversions...

I was wondering, what headlights could be converted in a 01 Cavalier with the least amount of fabrication to the fenders, and hood. I have seen the eclipse, and celica, and also the Silvia S15... But, I am not too much familiar with the custom fabrication process. Also, if I purchased new fenders, bumper, hood, and headlights of my liking (closely resembling cavalier ones), and brought them to a body man, how much am I looking at for JUST the fabrication to be done. I am not looking at an exact price, but just an IDEA. $0 - $250? $250 - $500? $500 - $750? $750 - $1000? I know everyone will give me different answers, but I want ideas how cost before I go asking body guys so I am not too too much surprised. I don't think it would cost too much more then around probably $500 range since it costs around $3k around here for a decent full paint job around here... But that's just my idea...

Any custom fabrication like that is in the thousands. Your best bet is to find a set of headlights you like, fabricate the mounts, and modify the stock hood, fenders and bumper.

yea buddy a paint job is cake walk compared to what a shop with charge for a custom fab job like that. if you dont have the bank roll and have no experience with a custom job like that i would say that you should think elsewhere.

ya man....ive done a headlight and tail conversion, and just in materials alone, i probably spent $1000-1500.

to add labor and paint......you're looking at a $3000-4000 bill i would assume. and that might be getting off light depending on quality/difficulty.

yea trust me, a headlight conversion takes hours and hours of fabrication/sanding/etc.... Im sure a shop would charge an ungodly amount of money. just for reference, it took me well over a month to complete my headlight conversion, excluding paint.... so take it from there, how much do u think a shop would charge for over a month of work on just headlights?!? yea, alot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

you are looking at a few grand, easily. if you want a conversion w/o big $$, do another 3rd gen J front end conversion. we have a sticky on the top of the forum about it. you can get the parts from a junker or trade another member for their front end. everything will bolt up.

if you arent interested in that, then look at other cars' headlights and see what looks to be about the same size. be sure to look at the WHOLE light not just what you can see from the outside....many other lights are much deeper than ours even if they dont look like it at first. good luck if you attempt any of this. but expect to spend a @!#$ ton if you have someone else do it for you.

yeah i've had both conversions as well...my headlights(silvia's)ran me 700 for the lights and another 800 for the job, the tails were aftermarket(celica's) so they were alot less, but when that conversion was done i also had my bodykit and fenders installed and that job ran about 1500
