I'm giving some serious thought to geting this fiberglass Sunfire front bumper from Soundspeed. Any experience/opinons out there about quality and fit on their product? Any insight appreciated.
You get what you pay for. To be able to sell a bumper for $185 shipped, some costs were cut. More than likely, they're going to fit poorly and be thin. Also, the bumper choices they list are false. That is NOT the RK front, they do not have the authentic BC2, the Type J, Bomex, etc.

Thanks, you have good points. I knew the bumpers they have posted are "knock-offs" (the RK is vaguely similar to but different than a real RK sports bumper, albeit I like the design of the soundspeed version more than the original, IMHO it's "cleaner" looking!) And yes, the prices they're selling for on Ebay are low, though 3rd gen body kits in general aren't selling for quite as much as they used to be (as the 95-99 cars still out there age, that inevitably shrinks the size of the market - and what it will pay).
I may email some of the prior Ebay buyers of their parts and see what their experience has been.
I purchased BC2 front and sides with a Type-J rear from these guys..
Front
Fit almost dead on. I had one issue with the right side bumper line meeting the front of the fender, but I didn't care as it's all being shaved in.
Sides
Pretty clean fit. I had both sides shaved into the rockers/quarters. No issues.. ..until the passenger side met a curb. It was destroyed. I've since switched to Razzi sides.
Rear
Complete headache. Type-Js never fit without sag in the centre portion, mine was no different. Under the tail light filler panel I had a pretty large gap of about 1/2 an inch. Has since been moulded in, only way I got the bumper to fit.
I ended out paying $500 something for the full kit new. I didn't complain. When it comes to bodykits, nothing is a bolt on. Enter the world of kitted cars and expect to work on the fitment.
thats a rip off of the old Sunfire Front RK Sport makes. QBE has been trin to sell one of them for like a year now Talk to him and he'll must likly give you a dela on it.
Yah soundspeed isnt that great..i bought sides and a type 2 rear for my fire..the rear dont fit for @!#$ and the sides were ok..my hood was meh..overall te quality isnt bad but it coule be better..phil
i had the cavalier bmx kit they sold, and the type 2 hood.....
Not bad, good first kit for the price. front bumper, you will have to drill the holes for the bolts, so make sure there dead on. IMO fitment was pretty good, but the bumper itself is thin fiberglass. i put mesh in there and i bondo'd it in there and that gave the bumper alot of strength that the bumper itself did not have. i ended up destroying the thing when i hit a man hole cover. but have since gave it to a friend, he fixed it and its on his car now. not too bad.
Side skirts....
they had kind of a twist to them. literally, they were twisted. took quite a few screws to get it to fit. not too bad pretty thick on the fiberglass for what they were. still in tact on my buddies car.
Rear bumper.....
again, you will have to drill the holes to mount them. but they crappy part is they dont fill in on the top part of the bumper where it meets the body. so it stuck out and over the years of use actually rubbed through my paint, so go the extra mile and fill in the top where it can overlap your stock bumper where you mount it so you wont rub through the paint on your body. other then that, i didnt mind it for the price.
I payed 800 for the hood, and kit shipped so not a bad price, but you do pay for what you get. but also remember anytime you mess with fiberglass you risk the chance of screwing it all up if you hit something with it.
Now i have the type j kit and i love it, i had that problem with the rear bumper saggins, but my body guy took care of it by sticking the car in the heat booth, and lifting the bumper and it kinda moulded like that so now it fits perfectly. other then that its a great kit. hope this helps man!! take care
i had some issues like everyone else with my front but not too major.. although you could see light shining through the resin in some places.. my skirts were cut so wierd that they had to add FG to make them fit properly and they were about 1/4" too long for the car.. and my black widow rear didnt fit at all.. so i scrapped it and got an extreme dimensions drift rear.. but all in all it wasn't half bad.. but from now on i'm buying my stuff from ED for sure

Thanks for all the helpful replies. Sounds like getting a bumper from them is a "calculated risk." I can deal with minor to moderate fitment issues, it's the thin fiberglass part that concerns me. Right now my car has a stock front bumper, import fighter urethane skirts (indestructible!) and a wings west rear lip. The latter is beefy fiberglass and has held up very well over the last three yearsl. So I have some reservations about putting a thinner piece of fiberglass up front.
Next step is to try to contact some of the recent eBay bumper buyers to see what they say about the current product.
Thanks again for all the feedback!
i had no issues except for twisted sides...get what u pay for i guess

i bought the buddy club a few years ago on my old cavi.. front and rear fit as good as the oem stuff. bolted right on. side skirts had a LITTLE bit of sanding to get it flush on the side of the car. think i paid like 500-550 shipped for the entire kit. i delt with Gino i think his name was. great service and good quality for the price.
i actually rear ended someone doin about 5-10mph awhile after it was on.. put 1 huge crack down the middle, that was it, didnt shatter. id say go for it
