Alright, I just bought a Lite glow undercar neon setup for my car. Came with a little red box with the power switch, and another switch (I'm assuming to change the light pattern). Now, it came with no instructions. There were just two wires, red and black, coming out of the box. So, since I don't smoke, I hooked the wires up to my cigarette lighter wires. And since the wires coming out of the box were extremely tiny, I thought that would be enough juice. Now, with the wires hooked up, I have no power to the box, and when the lights are plugged in, they still don't turn on. I had the key on and everything. Should I just hook it up somewhere else? If so, where?
Test it out with a 12amp battery charger to make sure there is nothing wrong with the kit first, if all is good there, I would run a seperate fused line directly to the battery
Like tag another line onto the existing one that's already hooked up, and run it through the firewall to the battery?
Yup, I find the rubber gromet surrounding your steering knuckle is the best spot to run little things like that. But be sure to test with a battery charger, or just test on your battery before you go through the trouble of running the wires.
your neon needs a constant battery power not an accessory power..check to see if it blew your fuse.
Nope, no fuse blown. Thanks guys, I'll just wire it right up to the battery and ground it to the frame.
Cig lighter circuit is constant, or should be. There is a power wire that splits off the pos cable from the battery and connecting to a terminal on the bottom of the underhood fusebox, thats a fairly easy place to connect things like this and keeps the battery terminals less cluttered. I have my amp connected there, but I am gonna connect it to the battery before too much longer, as I think the amp draws more power than what that wire is intended for. But for just lights, that connection should work well.
