Is there any "proper" way to do this mod? I don't want it to rattle with my bass and leak and crap.

what do you mean by "proper?" if you follow the directions and do it right, you won't have any problems with it rattling or leaking

cause after while the hinges and latches get weak and since you are altering the way the arm assembly moves the lid wont always close 100% the same just over time usually everyone turns it back to stock. i like the look but our trunks just werent really meant for that

It is a great show stopper, but I found it to be hassle.

im getting ready to do that mod to my cavy but i did it on a 91 sentra. what i did was remove the trunk lid from the hinges. i went to ace hardwar, you can get them at any home improvement store, and i bought to door hinges that were about 3 inches long when closed. i screwed one side of the new hinge to the top of the trunk hinge, and the other side of the hinge to the trunk itself. if you do it this way, make sure you leave enough room on the new hinge so that without the trunk, you can fold the new hinge down over the end of the trunk hinge. it looked good and i didnt have any leaks or nothin. i dont know about rattling, i didnt have a system in the sentra.

i did it like that and thats how i tell ppl to do it. you have to lower the arm assembly via longer screws and some pvc tho
