Im thinking of ordering these flares for my 00 cavy and I was wondering if anyone knowsif they have a lip thqt goes inside the fender or if they just go on the outide of the fender, thanks in advance for anyones help.
I am pretty sure that there is no lip for the inside of the fender. You need to have a way to build a shelf on the outside of the fender with fiberglass bondo. At first you are just getting bondo on the fender with rubber gloves and hoding it on there until it sticks. Do this all along the rim of the wheel well. When that is done you can start to usewax paper after you put down the freshly mixed bondo put down the wax paper on the bondo and put the fender flare over the wax paper to mold the bondo. That way the bondo conforms to the flare. It only takes a few seconds to press on the flare to shape the bondo underneath. Take off the flare and pull up the edge of the wax paper a little bit and when you see that bondo looks like it is smooth and before it hardens remove the wax paper. The bondo will look smooth and uniform. The wax paper needs to be taken off at the right time so it won't adhere to the bondo.
THen use a grinder if you feel there needs to be anything trimmed up and wait a day for this to cure. Then use some Norton structural bonding adhesive to secure the fender flare to the bondo. If you put in Norton bonding adhesive on Ebay there is one place it is sold but I think they are running out of it from what I understand. Right now it is 28 bucks plus shipping. You will also need a gun they sell for 50 bucks. I think getting some extra tips is a good idea.
Once you put the adhesive on there clamp the flare to the body and in 30 minutes you are ready to go. I usually leave the clamps on longer just to be sure.
Not really too difficult but it is messy and it takes time to make sure things are right before putting down the adhesive.
Is it worth all the hassle. If you want them & have the time to mess with it.
There are other ways to get the job done but I have not used those other methods.
I dont think I need to do all of that. They are the flares that have the mounting points of the factory push pins front and rear i just need to know if there is an inside lip or not, if there is I cant use them because it will do thew same thing my fender lip is doing now
that was so much i didnt even read. i say dont be a puss and cut the whole lip off like me lol. or dont be cheap like me haha and buy toyos. lol and show a pic of these flares cuz i "usually" hate them
i had a set and they were "L" shaped....part on the car and part that bolts to the stock fender liners

i never seen fender flares at bolt up like that. they usually have to be panel bonded to the fenders and molded in. unless you are talking about the ones that skilz has on his car
They might be the ones he has, I've never seen his car so Im not sure. They are very subtle, dont stick out too far and use the stock liner holes
im sure you seen it before
heres a pic, you can see the fender flares in this pic
those ones come with a double sided tape and mount up like stock. i had a set, just never ended up installing them
