Sunday, September 09, 2007 7:41 PM
Hey I was just wondering if anyone would be able to help me with shaving my trunk. I want to do it myself, All that I want to shave is the key hole. and the antenna hole. If anyone could help me out with this It would be awesome. Also I should add I am going to be doing it with bondo. So I would need the procedure for that. Thanks.

Peace out everyone.

I haven't done the repair myself but have read it many times on here before. Many people suggest you NOT use bondo. Bondo will shrink and crack over time as the temperature changes. It is recommended that you weld in a filler plate to actually fill in the keyhole and the antenna hole.

You can search on here for the stpe by step instructions.

dont kick yourself later, do it right the first time

unless of course youd like to get good at it, because if you go that route, youll be doing it multiple times

right above the forum list, and the reply box is the row of magic buttons. search for either a thread title (subject) or search in message bodies (which might not work as well).

basically, to shave something you're going to want to get rid of the paint around the area, weld in a piece of metal, grind it smooth, apply body filler as needed, primer, paint, clear coat. bondo (which is a brand of body filler) is used to smooth out low spots, not fill in holes. it will work temporarily, but it's going to need to be redone the right way eventually. might as well save yourself some time and hassle and weld it, or get a shop to weld it.

there both small holes it probably wont cost much to have a body shop weld in a piece of metal. if you want to know, call a shop and ask them. why would you even consider filling in the holes with bondo still? it wont work.
