Aircraft Stripper: Is it safe to use it on plastics?
Wednesday, September 12, 2007 10:29 AM
I recently grabbed some used sidskirts for the Cav and they are painted Victory Red. I need to remove the old paint from them. Can aircraft stripper be used so I won't have to sand as much? Or should I go the old school route and just sand away the old paint.

I've used aircraft stripper on plastics before (plastic corsica grille) and it seemed to be OKAY, but it wasn't that much. I would be worried about the plastic warping or melting,

To play it safe, I would just sand the paint. You don't have to go all the way down, just get the clear coat off and enough so the primer can stick to it.

i think the aircraft remover might mess up the plastic, it might say on the can, but seeing what it does to paint i would be scared to try it lol, id just go the old school route and get to sanding
