I am looking into buying a carbon fiber trunk to replace the one that recently got vandalized and was wondering if the VIS one is pre drilled to fit the reverse lights and such. i do not want to have to do a ton of custom work to get it to fit. The price is pretty good, so i may order it soon. Any pics would be helpful.
i hate to sound like an ass here....but searching does wonders....i came up with 4 pages when i did it
just go to members, advanced search, model = cavalier, modifications = carbon fiber trunk, click show pictures
and voila!
everyones got the rk trunk filler but none with the whole trunk. more than anything i just need some feedback on this particular trunk, the pics would only be a bonus. and don't worry, your'e not coming across as an arse, i should have checked the registry first.

a trunk lid for what car? you have a cavalier and a sunfire in your reg and both are coupes. there are plently of pics around here of the vis cf trunk lid. if your looking for your sunfire, you can give up because vis never made one for fires. there were some knockoff lids but they werent real vis lids
look at my cardomain. or search for my threads in photos & media. i have a VIS trunk. and you do have to do custom work if you buy it new.

thanks for the heads up. THe listing on Ebay is for a "Real VIS Carbon Fiber Trunk" and is listed for the 03-05 sunfire. I was hoping to replace my mangled lid with something a little nicer. Probably just remove the wing and call it done. And as far as the cavalier goes, it's my fiances car and she hates CF so that more than likely never happen (but it would look so good...).

1 that link doesnt say wheater its for a 2dr or a 4dr which are 2 completely different lids
2 they dont even show a picture of the lid
3 vis has a brand new website up and its still not on their list. yes they make 4dr cf lids thats because its the same as a cavalier lid.

there was someone on here early this year, looking for a sunfire coupe c/f trunk lid. i pointed him to an ebay ad (had an actual picture of it). he bought it and posted pics after he got it. it had a VIS badge on it. i can't seem to find the thread though.

its a vis badge but its not a real vis lid. when i spoke to vis a little while back they said they never produced a lid for a 2dr fire, only the 4drs
^^ i remember seeing that cf lid on that sunfire. it was red, the roof was the rare as hell painted black style to. so the hood/trunk/roof were all black and it looked AMAZING. that car also has a REALLY clean turbo setup.
but, i cant speak for VIS. but i can for JSP. i had to enlarge the openings for the inner tail lights quite a bit for them to fit in there. had to drill the holes bigger for the studs on the lense to go through as well. also had to drill holes in the bottom edge to mount the lil rubber stopper's.
and if you do go ahead and get any cf lid, a universal trick you can do:
take off one of the spring rods that hold the trunk lid up, put one end in a vise and take a torch and heat up the middle til its glowing red, twist the rod just a scouch in the opposite direction of the way you have to push it up to put it back into place. then place it in the bottom slot for the adjustment. and viola, the trunk will no longer spring up in the air. it will come up nice n easy and stay up just like stock.
