reinforce side skirt

I was sanding the old paint off of the side skirts and I noticed that there are some thin places that I am concerned about on the side skirts. Is there a good way to build this up? Would fiberglass and resin help on the outside of the side skirt?
The thin parts are in the middle of the side skirt.
I am not sure I can re-paint it again without some problems no matter what I do. Do I have to cover the entire side skirt with fiberglass cloth and then paint it?

I have never done this before.

the way to do it is to take the side skirt completely off... then build it up from the back side of the side skirt. with fiberglass. what kind of material is it made of? like more like plastic or is it fiberglass mat behind it?

JUst take the skirt off..grind it down ..ruff the surface up wth say 24 grit..lay your matting on the back of it..youll be good as new..phil

just becareful where on the side skirt it is. obviously you want to build up the back so its still smooth on the face fo the skirt but if its thin near the top of the skit where it comes up towards the door, you may have a problem. building it up too much there may cause the skirt not to fit right. also please make sure if you do build it up to use fiberglass mat. if you dont, it wont be nearly as strong. resin itself is nothing without the mat

I appreciate the good information and it sounds like it isn't too big of a deal. I don't have any thin areas at the top so I am good to go!
Thanks

i did this with my front bumber from my evo kit... i had never done ANY fiberglassing before and did it no problem... as long as you do it to the inside and try not to get resin on the outside... its pretty hard to go wrong.
