i doubt they'll be bright enough to use for anything more than show... if you look at the bottom pic, its shopped. the bulb's not plugged in.

Considering they are rated at 1 Watt, they're not going to be what you want to depend on for lighting at night.
If its rated at 1 Watt, thats the draw of the bulb.. not its output, correct? It's a good idea, as BMW apparently is experimenting with LEDs as headlights. Next to nothing power draw, potential for very high output.
I might order a set of these sometime, if I do, I'll make a post about it.
that bulb would mainly be a replacement for the highbeams only, and really only good for DRL's. As for lighting up the roadway, forget it. you would need a bank of those to achieve the lumens required to stay legal. It may, in fact require as much, if not more, wattage than a standard halogen. The tradeoff is longevity.
I looked into an LED headlight setup about a year or so ago, and given the cost involved, it became less than worth it.
Oh, and here is a review:

you are correct, one watt is the draw, and if you look at the bulb closely, its actually multiple microLEDs, and from personal experience the micros are extremely bright
horsepower is the force that determines at what speed you hit the wall, torque is the force that determines how far you take the wall with you after you hit it.
