im on break right now and cant really search, does anyone know how to disable the drls in a 2k+ with tech2? i found the 99 procedure and that doesnt pull up the same. I found the section for testing where i could activate them, but not disable them completely. Anyone have the procedure or know where i can find it?
wondering the same thing here. Have access to the Tech 2, but can't figure it out

Well i found the procedure for the 95-99.. followed it but after Special Options it was different then what the 99 procedure said. So i was playing around with it and figured it would be in the BCM so went in there and found nothing other then i could easily turn them on and off.. not disable them completely..
I also checked AllData and found no information regarding disabling..mainly just description and relay info.. still nothing bout disabling..
btw here is the 95-99 procedure if u need it blk99cav. or to try out, its just what i found searching on here

Try going to "Country" or something like that and change the settings to "Mexico". No DRL's used in Mexico.

Gotcha, just searching through and that was mentioned also was changing the country, ill have to check it out. Will changing it to mexico cause any problems with future readings or anything? lol could i disable drls and then go back to US or w/e and they remain disabled?
still keeping an eye on this lol, need it for the 00+ cars, so ya :p

I'm pretty sure you can only do it on the 95-99's..... I've done it a few times on them, but never on a 00+
SPD RCR Z -
'02 Z24 420whp
SLO GOAT -
'04 GTO 305whp
W41 BOI -
'78 Buick Opel Isuzu W41 Swap
No idea, they never let me play with the thing... I just tell them what buttons to press and they do it LOL!!
I've only used one for flashing PCM's, and re-programing BCM's, keyfobs and stock radios.

i really dont think it can be done with the tech 2....i disabled mine by grounding that blue wire on my 04 cav
Built&Boosted moar
04 Cavalier Turbo r.i.p my baby
2nd place 2009 GM tuner bash qwick 8--holla
cool, never been a fan of doing the whole cutting wires and all that stuff to remove them. so 95-99 can disable them via the tech 2 eh?
i dont spose you could just waltz into a gm stealership and get them to do it....???
hpt remove it?
i just grounded the wire as well.
the personalization menu is what you want. i can look it up later if you still cant find it, but its def under personalization
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
Machzel if u could look it up for me i'd appreciate it. I dont have alot of time to work on my own car so i usually have to do mine during break or if i need to check something so i'd like to have the procedure steps known before i go into it. Thanks
Yes, if you could look it up that would be absolutly awesome!!

Gah i had the tech2 hooked up today on my car doing EVAP testing and what not(CEL came on this morning) and forgot to go through the tech2 again. Machzel if u could find the procedures it'd be helpful
k ill check my service manual today. i hope its in the electronics section. otherwise the body accessory book is at home.

for all 00+.... When you do the whole cut and ground system... does your DRL light Blink or what happens
The same thing that happens when you cut the wire on 95-99.... which is the same thing as when you have your low beams on...
Nothing.
Cutting and grounding the wire on the 00-05 makes the BCM think the low beams are on.. so it doesn't bother putting the DRL's on.
That's why (unless you can do it with the Tech 2) doing it that way is better than all the other ways of disabling the DRL's - jumper wires, black tape, etc... and they all have undesirable side effects. Do it right and never have to worry about it... it's just better.
yea so i looked in the elctronics section, not there. it must be in teh body and accesories book. thats at home
. i dont go home till end of the month. when i get it ill post it up so it can be in teh faq

Well, I was looking through it today, and by the looks of it...there is no way to turn them off. In the personalization menu, there is only alarm options, no DRL options. I'm not sure if having the candi module hooked to the Tech 2 will do anything....perhaps something that I shall try tomorrow.

on my 96 i just cut the blue wire .. and taped both ends up... no lights on the dash nothing not even DRLs haha
You wont find a published procedure for disabling the DRLs in a 00+ J car. As I have been informed by GM it would be illegal to do and therfore illegal for them to willingly allow it. You can get a special recaibration from GM if you have an emergency vehicle or state vehicle.
Im not saying it can and Im not saying it cant be done. Im just saying it wont be published and I wont be saying how its done or not done for that matter.
