at first i thought the black hood would look bad with the red. but then it kinda made it look like the car had a red mask on that that was pretty cool. so yeah, i kinda like your original toon

oh and this is what im gonna go with...i put a blue pinstripe on there to break up the two colors..tell me what you think im really likeing this idea
I don't know about the blue stripe, it doesn't look bad but I think a metallic grey would look good breaking the two colors. Have you tried posting this picture in a sig request thread in image manipulation, someone in there should be able to help you.

the blue pinstrip will throw it off, I'd use something else.

just did kind of a quick chop for you. I know that this isnt your car, but as far as photoshop is concerned, the pic you posted doesnt really give me anything to work with.
the moulding looks a little weird, but i couldnt get it to cut right, this was just a quick chop though.
