i was wondering how much anyone paid for to get their body kit painted just to match their car paint. all 4 pieces front, back and sideskirts. i just want a ball park estimate so i know what im getting myself into. i figured id ask here just to see first hand what fellow j-body owners paid rather than calling 90 body shops in my area all day. thanks alot guys.
Youd have better luck calling 90 body shops in your area...
I paid $400 for mine, but I'd say the average is $350-750
damn thats more than i thought. did that include installing? i just wanna know how much for it to get painted.
i paid 600 for my stock Z kit. all depends who you know. the first few places i called wanted over 1000. i finally settled with having a freind do it in the small shop he works in.
i had a dent fixed from a deerand had my door handles, mirrors, wing and all 4 pieces for 350
man i love knowing people in body repair!!
your looking at roughly 500 for paint (assuming its not already painted as the extra sanding will cost more).... if your new to body kits the kit would need to be test fitted BEFORE paint... you would do that by the sounds of it because having them do it would cost more... after test fitting it then sending it out to paint, you would then (obviously) get it back and install it...
Now if you wanted to get it installed, painted, the whole shabang from a shop, you would first have to find one that does body kits (your local Maaco or some other body shop won't generally do it).
After allllll that, expect to pay about $1000-$1500 Canadian.... about $1000 U.S...
Hope that helps.
jesus! i didnt think it was going to cost this much at all. cost almost more than the frickin kit. i guess ill just ask santa to hook me up this year haha. thanks for the info though.
a good painter isnt cheap. and a cheap paintjob will make you car look like crap no matter what kit you have on it. ive had quotes up to 3 grand on that. one thing to think about it just painting a body kit the same color and throwing it on doesnt mean it will match. a quality painter will feather the paint out from your kit onto other body panels so it blends in and matches up perfectly.

i wish there were 90 bodyshops in my area
probably around 150 per piece which is 600 bucks for a decent paint job. that does not include installing it either. you can install it yourself
There's way too many factors that go into this which make it impossible for anyone on here to give you an accurate estimate, plus it's always good to keep in mind that you get what you pay for.
For example:
How old is the paint on your car? What color is your car?
Paint fades, and the only way that you can even come close to guaranteeing that your paint hasn't faded is if your car has never seen sunlight.
Some colors are much harder to match than others, and contrary to what some may say, there is no magic device that will match the color on your car exactly. Color scanners will only give you the closest STOCK color to your car... it can get it pretty darn close usually, but you still may be able to tell.
GM whites are a pita to match, because there's so many different shades gm used in their whites. Some have blue tints, some red tints, some green tints, etc. Reds and black fade fairly fast...
Your best bet is to take it to shops in your area and get estimates. Never go to a shop that won't guarantee their work, and shop around.
i know that its hard to get an exact answer thats why i mentioned that i just wanted a ball park estimate..if painting 4 body pieces is gonna cost me 1000 or more im deff not investing that kind of cash on it, i rather get performance mods instead. but if its 4-5 hundred than ill prolly do it. i really want a drift kit on my car and i think im going to go through with the entire process by the end of this winter. thanks again for everyones advice and input, very much appreciated and helpful.
