I've been changing some things on my car and decided to order a set of 00 Toyota tails from gmpartsdirect. so i place my order way back on Nov. 2nd and they finally arrived today. Here's the best part, one of the inner tails is on national backorder with no ETA, so they sent me 3 out of the 4 lights. How smart are they to send out an incomplete set of tails.

Here are the part numbers that i used, the last number is for the drivers side inner that is on national backorder.

now i've never seen the toyota inners in person, but i think that the one that they did send me, looks odd. i don't remember seeing anyone elses looking like this



i don't think i've ever seen them with the lines over the reverse light. i think i pulled the part numbers from lenkos page with all the toyota stuff.



so now basically i need to come up with a set of toyota inners. any ideas? i'm not gonna buy a full set from ebay, so if anyone has any ideas where i could just pick up a set of inners for a decent price, i'd appreciate the help. i'm gonna search through all the toyota tail threads on here to see if i possibly used the wrong part number for the inners, but either way, i'm stuck with these lights since they were special order through gmpartsdirect and can't be returned. i just think its hilarious that they'd ship out an incomplete set of tails

sometimes if you check in the regions or the classifieds someone is selling the set of inners
and if you don't mind, how much did you pay thru GMPD?

you're right about the lines on the inners. i just looked at the pics on street-line.net and the pics on lenkos page. for some reason i thought the inners didn't have the lines.

those 3 lights were $230 shipped from GMPD. if they would have included the 4th light, it was supposed to be $290ish. The inners were like $51 each and the outers were $69 each. The shipping was outrageous.

i bought mine slightly used for 220 or 200, its been a while, i forget lol
and if you wanted you could send those back and grab the set in the classifieds goin for 250

i'd love to send them back and pick up the set that Speedracerz has for sale, but according to GMPD they were "special order" and are non returnable. I'll just wait it out and see how long the whole "backorder" thing lasts. I wasn't planning on putting them on the car until the spring anyway. I'll just keep rockin my 96-99 toyos until then.

take care of those things for sure tho, mine have some nasty sunfading goin on
so theyre possibly getting painted this year

Here's a thought... had you planned on painting the surrounds (the rust colored areas that surround the areas that actually light up on the Toyota inners)? If so, you could just use '00-'02 stock Cavalier inner taillights. The only differences are that the surrounds on the stock inners are reflective red as opose to the rust colored on the Toyota tails and the stock inners don't have the red lines over the reverse lights. Just something to think about .

i wasn't planning on painting the surrounds. i like the way the dark red trim looks against a silver car. i'm still trying to figure out how an inner taillight can be on national backorder though, clearly it must be in high demand. oh well, MantaZ is workin out a deal that might get me a set of toyo inners, so hopefully that works out

i was considering matching that color as close as possible since like i said mine are sun-faded
or should i go with silver?

i immediately thought of phlatcav's old sedan when you said that. he had 00 toyota outers with the trim painted silver. hopefully this pic here works. it actually looks really good, but i don't know it would really look that good on my car. i haven't seen pics of your car so i couldn't say how it would look on yours either
