brake light bulbs to led
Thursday, November 15, 2007 8:11 PM
so i had to get two replacement bulbs at murrays auto for my side marker and license plate lite and saw these led tail light bulbs that fit oem so i bought them and installed them. they look great and all, much brighter than stock but when i use my turn signal it flashes fast like the bulb is out but its not and it makes a funny noise too, any ideas on how to solve it? i think i might just return them and put the oem's back in...

either the 50 watt LED Load Equalizer (mount away from anything flammable/meltable) or 5 pin flasher (EP27) found here:

Do it right and get the Turnsignal flasher, screw the equalizer.. to much hassle.
And before you ask(cause I know I asked Kardain before lol) You only need 1 of those flashers to replace the stock turnsignal flasher. Now where is the stock turnsignal flasher? Well its above the brake lever..(Again thanks to rob) but then I even got a picture off Alldata from our shop of it for future reference.

and in case you have no clue #1 is the turnsignal flasher, #2 is the harness the flasher will come out of and where you will plug in your new flasher.

i agree screw the load equalizers, i wired them in like they said and they didnt do anything except heat up. i havent tried the flasher yet, i think thats gonna be my next move. im tryin to use the "spider" lights for my taillights and i havent gotten them to work yet.

You ask why?, I ask why not?

Now I haven't gotten around to changing out my load resistors for the front bulbs to a flasher and, aside from the heat, I haven't had a problem.

Thats what i did but they wouldnt flash, turns or brake lights. The marker lights would come on(duh). Well to tell the truth i never tested the lights with out the marker lights on so i dont know if they would flash. I know that they wont flash with the marker lights on, thats how i tested to see if they were working.

I've read that if you have incandescent marker lights it can jack with the LED bulb

hmmm so if i replace all my marker lights with LED bulbs should eliminate that problem, but i dont feel like putting and more money into this mod without knowing how to make it work. Now i read this on autolumination's website, thats where i ordered my bulbs.

Quote:

Note: Use Special 3157-SRCK (Red) or SACK (Amber) bulbs to replace the center tail lamp bulbs on:

88-95-01 Cavalier and Sunfire tail lamp bulbs

Use the regular 3157 bulbs for the top tail lamp bulb.

95-01 Cavalier and Sunfire tail lamp bulbs

I cant make any sense out of it. As far as i know cavaliers dont have center tail lamps, just reverse lights and top tail lamp?????WTF???? Both of my cavaliers only have one 3157 tail lamp bulb on each side, im sure everyone else is the same except for the guys running toyo tails. BTW my cavalier that im doing this to is an 03' w/ 02' trunk and lights.

High mounted stop lamp = center tail lamp.

I'd first remove the marker light, if that stabilizes things out, get the LED bulbs.
