Drift Kit
Saturday, December 08, 2007 5:39 PM
I have searched around and around and what I found for the drift kit in urethane is that it is no longer made for the 2000+ cavalier, so my next option i guess is fiberglass, is it really that hard to keep a fiberglass kit looking good, the roads around here arent the best roads but where is really tho. I know with a glass kit that there can always be some fitment issues. So my question is where is the best spot to buy the kit? I hear andys auto sport is good? is this true. And is this going to be a pain in the ass to remove come winter time for the stock bumpers to be put back on. Thanks alot guys

buy from a .org business, like A+ Performance or karo (although i'm not sure if he sells the drift kit)

if you know how to drive, you will be fine with a fiberglass kit. its true that it will chip or crack easier, but its also easier to paint and repair than urethane.

and install/removal is easy also--it usually involves a screwdriver and a ratchet, although drift sides use either rivots or double sided tape to secure the top back part, so plan ahead when installing if you are going to remove them for winters, etc.

yes they make urethane kits. urethane is a rubber-like plastic and doesnt break or crack as easily as fiberglass. its also usually higher quality and a better fit, but costs twice as much as glass

I bought a RK sport lip kit from andy's auto sport. and I can't complain ! It arrived a week later up in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The only compaint is towards UPS who left it leaning on the door with nobody home for the whole day.

I hear the fitment sucks on fiberglass kits is this true. So your saying A+ performance is the place to go?

when you get a fiberglass kit, you really get what you pay for. a cheap kit is going to fit like crap, and will cost you more money to get it to fit well. a more expensive kit from a reliable company will probably fit better. Jason at A+ sells good kits at a good price.

true, when i ordered my trd kit from gravana, it was pretty expensive but the thing fit like a glove and needed no work at all to fit

cannon is pretty much right, here. although i would like to note that not ALL cheap kits fit badly---you really just need to know your source. ebay kits are notorious for not fitting well, whereas most "cheap" kits that are manufactured by wayson, usa, are actually high quality, as they also make aerogear products. again, knowing the source and not just the retailer or distributor can really help a lot.

but dont make a rookie mistake and think that just because some cheaper kits are ok that all of them are or that youll luck out when buying a cheap kit.....99% of the time you will end up getting what you pay for. since you are new here i would recommend going with A+. Jason is a nice guy and will treat you right and youll get a good product at a good price.

i got my drift kit through andys autosport came in excellent condition but i haven't test fitted it yet!!! it's the duraflex fiberglass kit! decided on that one because the urathane kit is no longer produced and i figured that would be the best kit i could get for it little better then plain fiberglass has some flex agents in it to help it flex! got a pretty good deal on it too!!! keep them in mind as well

"duraflex" or "v-fiber" or any other name where they claim its more flexible than regular fiberglass is nothing more than an advertising trick. and obviously it works .

i have the drift kit that came from soundspeed front and sides anyway and they fit horribly and you could see light shining through the resin in the parts but i got a duraflex drift rear from extreme dimensions and it fit perfectly except for the notorious rear bumper sag the cav's have.. so i wouldnt reccomend soundspeed as far as fittement issues
