Honestly, I've read and re-read your question a few times, and I'm confused. I'm not trying to be a pain in the neck, but I don't understand what you're asking exactly. I actually see two questions in one, and will try to break them up...apologies if I mess it up totally.

What I'm getting from your post is this:

First, you're wondering if re-enabling the DRL and using the high beams to run the HIDs for the DRL may have an adverse effect on the ballast, correct? I can't answer that one myself, not having had any experience with HIDs, but the guys over at hidplanet.com can. You'd have to register for their forums, but they're usually pretty good with answers. I've asked other questions over there myself and gotten reasonable answers.

Second, you're wondering why the alarm is going off every 20 minutes after having disabled the DRL, right? This one makes me wonder what model of Code-Alarm you've got and how you disabled the DRL. These two things alone may be enough to tell us what's causing the issue. This specific question may also be better asked in the audio and electronics section. I may be able to help here, but maybe not as well. I'm not sure...I've not installed a Code-Alarm in an awfully long time.

well the way i disabled the DRL's is "http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=7&i=326113&t=326113" for the 2003 cavalier. The Code Alarm i have is the CA-610. As for asking in the audio & electronics section i got no replies.

Ok. Since you've not gotten any replies, I'll see what I can do. I may be way off here, so bear with me.

First, as to the HID's and the possibility of ballast damage: I've heard that running DRL's with HID's can cause ballast damage. I'd still recommend that you verify that in the other forum to be sure. But, until you do, I'd run without them. It never hurts to be safe, which I know is what you're trying to do.

Second, on your alarm's 20 minute trigger: I'd listen to the disarm code and watch your parking lights to see what it's telling you. Many alarms (and I'm assuming your Code is no different) will tell you what is causing your alarm to go off. I'm guessing that it's going to tell you either that there's nothing wrong and it's just disarming, or that there's a voltage problem (which is what I'm expecting). If you can, disable voltage sensing in the programming on your Code Alarm and see if it will stop triggering every 20 minutes, or if it will at least extend out it's trigger time. This will tell us a lot. If that doesn't do it, recheck your triggers and make sure that they're tapped into the correct wires and secure. It could be that one of them is slightly loose and that you're getting false alarms (though a 20 minute interval sure seems rather suspicious).

I could run you completely through my logic here, but it'd take too long and you'd either get overwhelmed or bored, and I could be wrong anyway.

Let me know what you find.
