Alright... being that it was really nice out today, I washed my car. I also treated myself to some new Slyvannia Sliverstar bulbs!
There is such a difference, but I have a problem. They don't seem to be lined up right. I also noticed that my driver side lense was fogged up. I always knew it was, but with the new bulbs it looks horrendous. I was wondering if maybe that's why they don't look lined up, because the fogged up lense is blocking the path of light or if they need to be adjusted. Here are some pics so you can judge for me.
As you can see the driver side one is giving off a glare.
You can see the fog, and what I think looks like a burned spot.
The passenger side lense is fine.
The bulbs are really white, but the lense makes it look so bad.
So what do you think? Is the lense causing it to look unaligned, or does it need to be lined up... maybe both?
I hope you guys can help.
Oh, and I might as well throw in a pic of her being all shined up.
It could be both... I would definitely replace that head light housing.... pick one up at a wreckers... then go from there.. right now it does look like the driver side is a bit high
Did u go with regular silverstars or the new silverstar ultras? cuz I just 'upgraded' to the ultras and they look the same as the regular silverstars to me. lol good thing they were the same price or I'd be mad. lol
I can't see the pictures (here at work) but I'll tell you right off the bat that GM lights suck; they leak constantly. What I've always done is remove the light and try to dry it as well as you can with a hair dryer, then let it air dry. You could probably even try to get a small brush in there to see what the deal is with your "burned" spot. I wouldn't be surprised if it IS burned from using high wattage bulbs (but it isn't really common.)
Then I run a bead of silicone all around the edge, packing it in as I go. Problem solved (if that's where it's leaking.) I also like to put di-electric gel on the base of the bulb where it meets the housing to try and block out water.
The best way to see if everything is lined up right is to pull it up to a garage door, preferably next to a car you KNOW is right. See if the headlights fall in the same spot. If they don't, adjust yours accordingly.
If ya need help with adjustin the headlights im not even an hour north of ya. I live a few miles below Montrose.
just use the adjustor screw to make them even...

From the pics it looks like mine did when i put new xenon bulbs in a few years back.
They could be out of adjustment, which i thought mine were but they weren't. Can't remember right off hand what it was but when i screwed the bolts back in place the headlight never seated like it should. I had to unscrew and take the headlight out and wiggle the headlight in it's proper seating. Hard to explain on here, had to be there.

They are regular silverstars... I think. I already threw out the package. Hopefully I can find a housing, they're usually one of the things stripped from the car by the time I get to the junkyard. And to Tinkles... if you want to come help me, I would appreciate it! PM me.
