Help with some rust
Wednesday, March 12, 2008 4:12 PM
Ok all, I have a few questions. About 2 years ago I installed a Zex Nitrous Kit. To Install the bottle, I drilled 4 small holes in my trunk and screwed in a few small screws. I am about to start working on my trunk and ass some "pizazz" to it. After clearing out all my crap and taking out the bottle, I found rust in the holes I drilled and I do not want to ignore it. Thanks for the help.

1.) Whats the best way to get rid of that rust?

2.) How do I prevent rust from forming in new holes I must drill to install various add-ons?

3.) Will I be able to reuse those holes, or just relocate my bottle?

grind the rust off, repaint, use some form of sealer and you hsould be set.. as long as the rust is only surface rust at this point mind you

How do I prevent this from happening in the future?
Do I spray paint sealent on both sides of the hole?
What are alternatves to use instead of screws for lets say fastening an amp in your trunk?
Shall I fill in the holes with bondo?
Should I spray both sides with sealent after I put a screw in?

Thanks for all the help. I am workin nights the rest of the week so I might be able to get this figured out this week.
