I decided to drive my cav in the winter this year and of coure it was one of the worst winters in years that we have had. Well I got a chance to hand wash the car yesterday and I found an abundance of rust pits all over. Nothing deep just minimal surface pits. Now ive heard that rubbing compound will work like a charm but is a little harsh on the paint. Anyone have any other ideas?
lol if its rusted, why are you worried about paint. surface rust has to be grinded off. either way you'll have to repaint the area.
I guess I didnt say this right. Its not rust down to the metal. its just orange dots in the paint.. paints not bubbling or anything .. my canuba wax from meguiars takes car of them just wondering if theirs other ways then scrubbing with a wax pad
this sounds like chemical fall out, like rail dust, jet fuel, on that line causes the ornage spots, a clay bar should remove the oxidation, if it does not you will need it buffefd
can i haz bondo
Yeah I was hoping someone would suggest a clay bar. I was thinking the same thing
thanks

yeah thats what it is , metal fall out, ive seen and detailed a few cars like that in my area, maybe cuz i live near a nucular power plant. honestly if u wanna get rid of it , u might get away with wet sanding the car with 1500 then buff the whole car

I get the same crap on my white cars bro. From what i was told, its rail road track iron dust that is kicked up onto your car while driving over them. A clay bar will take care of your problem, but be prepared to spend a few hours washing your car in order to get them all out.
Everywhere i go, i have to cross at least one set of them.
^thanks that makes since I cross 2 sets getting to class everyday
I HAD the same spots on my white asuna sunrunner a few years back; i used Nu finish polish, its a white liquid polish , its in a bright orange bottle, works great and fast, faster then a clay bar thats foresure, worth a try...

I've had this problem before, I though it was rust too. I just clay barred the car and it worked, but if you scrub them, you can get them off just by washing.
