Ok so i just ordered a set of clear corner lenses fairly cheap thought it would look good and i was thinking about painting my old ones on the inside of the lense black where all the chrome is.
can't i just bake the lenses at 225 or 250 degrees in the oven for a few minutes and i should be able to get the front cover off the the whole lamp right? then just heat it back up to re seal it?
my buddy did this to his headlamps on his subaru and i was just wondering if would work on j bodys.
thanks.
I know that works with the headlights but I don't think it works with the corners.
well if anyone has any ideas or knows how to do this it would be greatly appreciated to let me know.
razor blade cuts the seams. thats what i used.
I baked my headlights for 15-20 minutes at around 180-200 degrees. They came apart fairly easily but scraping all the old glue out was a bitch and I don't think I'd do it again... I'm sure it could be done with the corners on your car but the only way to know for sure is to try it for yourself.
FYI: aquarium glue works good for resealing the lens to the housing!

Humor me. How exactly would you plan on taking the lenses off, while the corners are still on the car?
I'm with Night Rider, use a razor blade.. it's easy and there's no chance of them warping.. being they won't be in an oven. If anything, use a heat gun or blow dryer to soften the seal up to cut easier.
I don't think he meant while they are still on the car, I think he meant with the particular lenses that he has.
I think the razor blade idea is the best, lets see how it turns out when you finger it out and get it done.
