I wash my car by hand but the problem is drying it without any spots. Ive tried the Mr. Clean auto wash. I also tried drying it right away with a towel. I also tried drying it with a towel and finishing it off with another cloth.
No matter what I do there are still spots. What else should I try?
in the past I have used a blade, i forget who made it. Its like a squeegee for a car, microfiber towels, or a shammy cloth.
vacuum cleaner and a hair dryer
edit ** it's called a California Water Blade
after I wash my car by hand I take it to a coin wash by my house and use a dollar to do their spot free wash..... after that i just use a microfibre cloth to waipe down the car..... rarely do I ever get spots... also I've noticed if you use stoners glass cleaner i rarely ever get water spots on my windows/mirrors
I use the California water blade to get the majority of the water off. Then I use a microfiber towel to get the car completely dry. Finally, I use an air compressor to blow out all the water from the mirrors, window trim etc.
The blade works great and no matter what anyone says, it
will not scratch the car, assuming you are careful with it and don't let it fall on the ground or become "contaminated".
i use one of those rubbery towels they sale pretty much everywhere. absorbs tons of water. i thought about getting one of those blades, but this works pretty good for me

camel towels outta pa its like a shamiy and a micro towel in one. also my cuz uses the sham wow towel on his truck.
I use the absorber, its a synthetic chamois. Works great never leaves any spots and can be had at any store that has a auto department. Usually around $10.
I used a water blade on my old car and there must have been a rock left on it after washing and it left a couple big scratches in the paint. I realize this was probablly my fault but I will never touch on of those again.
shamois is what i use
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
I have one of those "absorbers".... I used it one.. but cannot stand the feeling of it... it just does not feel right haha
I tried those water blades. Didnt work well for me.
For the people that use that absorbent cloth. Do you JUST use that to dry your car. Or do you use that and something else?
My other idea is maybe use a leaf blower.. any comments on that?
Wash with Turtle Wash Zip Wax, when the car is still wet I spray "Eagle One wax as U dry", and the good old 100% cotton bath towel to dry. No water spots.

my advice is do not buy one of them cheap chamois (sp?) (shammy) from wal-mart it will actually scuff the sh** out of your car. Those absorber towels...which are like a shammy but better, work well and i havent had them scuff my car, also they dont leave any spots (unless you use it on windows). The water blade works excellent..i used to have one, but last year i tried to find one and couldnt. Anyone know where they sell them or if they have been taken off the market? I love the water blade

you must have some really really @!#$ty water if your getting spots that bad... even after using the water blade

Its the water quality? I wouldnt know how to change it. If it helps I use the Mr. Clean thing and deionize the water at the end. Its supposed to clean teh water or something along those lines.
And yes I have tried most of the suggestions above, the only other idea I have that nobody commented on was the use of a leaf blower. Unless I can get the samel results with a dry cloth, just dont know what im doing wrong.
Maybe someone can give a step by step or link me to one?

go to a real detailing shop and pick one up there ......
i payed 15 bucks for mine and by far is the best thing ive ever used to dry the fire
Anything that touches the surface of paint has the potential to produce microscratch.
A leaf blower works for me.
I use the absorber as well....and I SWEAR by it!
As for this leaf blower idea....how exactly do you do the side skirts, or anything at the bottom of the car, without shotting small pebbles at your car? :S

dont wash it in the sun where the sun dries the water quickly.... i pretty much always let mine air dry in the shade and it barely leaves any spots...
i use the waterblade to get most of the water than use 2 microfiber cloths to finish drying it.. works really well, plus after im done with the cloths i use them to wipe down the interior/motor...
