One of the Techs at my job told me if the HID bulb blinks more then twice in a matter of 10 seconds then it damages the bulb.
Is this true?
Ever sence he has told me I have not used my keyless entry because when you use it the lights blink 1 time when unlocking and 2 when locking or visa versa..
If this is true is it possible to disable the lights from blinking when useing the factory alarm system?
Thanks

I have never heard that, and doubt its truth. Since the HID bulbs do not use a standard filament, I dont see how that could affect it. I would encourage you to do your research, but I do not think there is a way to reprogram the factory alarm to not flash the lights....
while its not bad for the bulb to blink it is harmful to you ballast you turn on and off quickly. i would find a way to disable the drls from coming on with keyless
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
^^^ thats much more believable.
Is it actually the DRL that are flashing with the alarm? cause most HID kits arent compatable with the DRL's anyways...so they wouldn't come on to begin with...
once you disable ur DRLs they don't blink
my drls are disabled and when i use my keyless entry they lights still blink when i lock and unlock the car

Yes a pre-mature fire of any xenon bulb will result in decreased life. Flickering them will kill the bulbs and ballasts. They do use electodes to fire Xenon salts within the bulb, but one surge then another to restart it again will in a sence over load the bulb so to speak.
The only time you can flicker them.. well is in a stock Bi-Xenon setup where the bulb stays fired only the shield within the projector moves so the bulb is not powered down.
So do not flicker them, they will dimish in color(white to off yellow/white) so you'll have to by new ones or blow up on you in your housing.. either way is not good.

The only way to get them to stop blinking is with a Tech 2 from GM. Did it to mine, now = mint

these relays are made to make the bulbs not blink when you use your stock keyless entry. my buddy had relays put in his jeep after he put his HIDs in because the flashing caused his ballasts to go bad. another buddy wired in separate switches (like you would use for neons or something) to turn his headlights on and off. it's kind of cool, but if you want the "stock" look, then you obviously wouldn't go that route. another friend of mine put 14k in her avenger and the factory alarm caused the lights to slowly decrease in color (as stated above) and then eventually caused the lights to flicker upon free will. i would recommend disabling the DRLs or have these relays installed. either way.
Thats what i dont understand I do have my DRLs disabled so why do they still blink???

ok well i called the GM dealer that I usually get stuff done at down the street and the one service adv jay told me they would charge me 57 bucks and i hung up the phone.... wtf hope the toyota one will let me pull it up save me the hassel

I doubt the Toyota one will do anything. This involves you going into the GM PCM and changing the options. The only one that I know of that it can be done with is the Tech 2.
And you lights still flash with the DRL's disabled, simply because your car is tricked into thinking that the lights are on when the car is running. Everything is still the same when its off.
