After removing the plastic shield underneath my foglights, I saw a massic black cylinder looking thing. Anyone know how to remove this thing? I couldn't get my head underneath all the way to see where it was bolted to...
Thats the stock air box if you are the drivers side..Now put that back on..Open hood remover plastic cover..Remove bolts that hold the head light in place..unplug the high and low beam plugs.lift up on light whole thing comes out..Reach down and unscrew fog lamp bulb..I am going out on a stretch here that you are changing a bulb..best of luck
Ah, I am actually trying to remove the whole unit, as I am switching them out for projectors. I did not remove the stock air box. I am looking to remove the whole fog light unit. I'll take a look into the bay tomarrow then.
I think your best bet is still to do it from the top..
Thanks for the info Jason, saved me a few headaches. Would have never thought of taking the headlights out and doing it from the top.
as mentioned taking your fogs out is easiest on 00-05's by taking out the front headlight.... the other way to get at them easily is to jack up the front end... take off the front wheel... the inner liner shield... then you can access it easily... they are held in by 2 plastic type bolts that are a PITA if you ask me..... if you wanna sell your stockers give me a pm
I took your advice and went in from the top...SO much easier. Only held on by 2 small nuts, and easily slipped them out. Now my question: With the new 55 watt foglights, am I able to use the stock plug/wires in order to hook them up? Or are the wires only able to withstand 27 watts? Or does it not matter?
I would rewire them If it was me..I ran new wiring for mine and put the on a separate switch..used the true ignition wire for power..That way they never stay on and you can still have a switch to turn them on and off..
you can use the stock wiring to trip a relay then just run the lights off that
