Just wondering if anyone on the org here had a set of those metal shields that go around the bulb in the headlight housing, you know that black think that kinda shields the bulb. Well i need 2 of those asap, if nobody has it, can someone please provide me w/ the GM part number for that please? I will soon be installing HID's in my cav but im gonna need those metal things, at least i think i will? Any opinions or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!
You dont need the metal rings, i have 2 of them but what you really need is projectors. not those little rings.
o okay, well im looking at ordering some random projectors on ebay from any car and take out the projectors and retro-fit them into my housing...anyone have any tips on doing that...all that i need to do is make sure that the projector fits right, nothing else? I've already searched a bit but was unable to find anything, also i want to get rid of that reflective housing, does that stuff just peel off or what exactly is it? Just looking for a bit of help b4 i dive head first into something that i have never done b4 so all comments are very appreciative! Thanks again!!!
im doing it now and its not as easy as just sticking a projector into your headlight, you have to make a backing plate or a shroud for it. and you cant just remove the reflective part. its fiberglass covered in a metallic silver reflector color. the metal rings just come out then you have to cut and fab up something to hold the projector in, then get them aimed correctly. its a pain in the butt.
Damn, i was hoping that it would cut and dry! Well for the metallic silver part, that could be sanded and painted black...can you share your ideas w/ me on what exactly that your fabbing up, could you make me a couple?? I know that's asking for a lot but that would help me out alot, i don't have access to fabbing materials and such. I guess im lookn for your exact step-by-step guide that your doing...i know this is gonna be a pain but it will pay off in the end, im sure of that. Can you show me some pics of what you have thus far... Thanks!

im in chicago now but ill see what i can do, all i have really used so far is some 1/4" black plastic, an air cut off tool, and thats about it. its a lot of trial and error. as for the metallic. yes it can be sanded off and painted.

Then you blind the cars that come at you. Its dangerously bright. and the light is not focused at all.
Well, bright = good visibility, right? haha I mean dangerously bright is what were all looking for, so we can see down those dark roads at night...but im still tryn to retro fit some projectors in my headlight housing...ANYONE have any ideas....or that have done this before that could give a few pointers....please step forward!!! Thanks!!
what your going to need to do.... i just got my car home so bear with me here.... is make a false wall to mount the projector to. the HARDEST part is to mount them in the right direction, that almost has to be done on the car where you can get power through the light and still aim them while installing them, our cars have no side to side adjustment and not a whole lot of up and down, so you have to get the best general alignment possible off the bat. this is where im stuck at. all i need to do is figure out the best way to mount my backing plates into the light. to answer a question you asked... can you send me some of the pieces you made... no i cant. our lights im positive will be different, what will work for mine, probably will not work for yours. i can get some pictures here later and post them but thats about it.
